Abstract:
In a system for displaying geophysical information on a video screen, data representative of spaced subsurface strata are stored in a computer memory. The data are extracted, plane by plane, and data bytes representative of the planes are stored in pairs in memories in an image processor. The data representative of one plane is displayed and recorded on a medium such as video tape. An image is then formed using a large fraction of the value of the data representative of one plane and a smaller fraction of the data representative of the next plane, and that image is stored. Successive images are formed using decreasing fractional amounts of the data representative of the first plane and increasing fractional amounts of the data in the next plane. Each image is stored and displayed, the display presenting a sequence of images which appear to merge or dissolve smoothly from one to the next. The process is repeated through all stored strata.

Abstract:
The specification discloses a method and apparatus for continuously transferring particulates from a liquid conveying medium to a gaseous conveying medium in which a liquid medium containing solid particulates is injected into a rotating centrifuge basket where the particulates are removed with the aid of centrifugal and pneumatic force. The deliquified particulates are continuously emitted from the centrifuge into a pick-up chamber where they are instantly received by a flowing gaseous conveying medium which transports them to a desired location. The method and apparatus of this invention are particularly useful in the mining industry.

Abstract:
Casting nozzles will provide improved flow conditions with the parameters controlled according to the present invention. The gap relationships between the nozzle slot and exit orifice must be controlled in combination with converging exit passageway to provide a smooth flow without shearing and turbulence in the stream. The nozzle lips are also rounded to improve flow and increase refractory life of the lips of the nozzle. The tundish walls are tapered to provide improve flow for supplying the melt to the nozzle. The nozzle is located about 45. degree. below top dead center for optimum conditions.
