GARDENING HISTORY: I came to North Texas in 1970. As a homeowner I found gardening in North Texas can be challenging. I was interested in understanding more about what to do in my urban landscape, so I started my horticultural education about 25 years ago with the Men’s Garden Club of Dallas and classes from Richland College Horticulture Dept. In 2001 I created a fundraising calendar project that made over $100,000. Funds created the “Hardy Palm & Tropical Collection” at the Dallas Arboretum. Inspired by H.S. Stevens I began speaking on gardening topics, then co-hosting a weekly “Garden Talk” radio show, also hosted many gardening segments on morning TV and writing gardening article for many magazines, newsletters and newspapers. In 2006 I joining the Dallas County Master Gardeners and continue speaking and writing on gardening topics. I began a consulting venture in 2009 to help homeowners with the landscape needs.
