Translucent Antacid Suspension

US Patent:
5874112, Feb 23, 1999
Filed:
Mar 31, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/828622
Inventors:
Gerard P. McNally - Strafford PA
John J. Dubek - Philadelphia PA
Assignee:
McNeil PPC-Inc. - New Brunswick NJ
International Classification:
A61K 3308
US Classification:
424690
Abstract:
An essentially translucent antacid composition is formed by an aqueous colloidal aluminum hydroxide gel wherein the average particle size of the aluminum hydroxide is less than about 0. 5 microns, preferably less than about 0. 1 microns, and more preferably less than about 0. 01 microns. The suspension is further preferably mixed with a polyol, such as sorbitol or maltitol, to enhance the translucency. The weight ratio of polyol to aluminum hydroxide gel (USP) ranges from about 0. 5:1. 0 to about 4. 0:1.

Fill Material For Soft Gelatin Pharmaceutical Dosage Form

US Patent:
5919481, Jul 6, 1999
Filed:
Jun 28, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/671991
Inventors:
Sharon L. Cody - Erie PA
Brid T. Devlin - Conshohocken PA
John Dubek - Philadelphia PA
Michael R. Hoy - Sellersville PA
Assignee:
NcNeil-PPC, Inc. - Skillman NJ
International Classification:
A61K 948
US Classification:
424452
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a substantially translucent, semi-solid fill material for a soft gelatin capsule containing a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical dissolved or suspended in the semi-solid. The semi-solid is sufficiently viscous so that it cannot be readily expelled at room temperature from the capsule with a syringe.

Translucent Antacid Suspension Containing Co-Dried Dihydroxy Aluminum Sodium Carbonate

US Patent:
6110505, Aug 29, 2000
Filed:
Apr 1, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/829979
Inventors:
Bruce P. Smith - Blue Bell PA
John J. Dubek - Philadelphia PA
Gerard P. McNally - Strafford PA
Assignee:
McNeil PPC Inc. - New Brunswick NJ
International Classification:
A61K 910, A61K 3310
US Classification:
424686
Abstract:
The invention provides an essentially translucent liquid antacid composition with dihydroxyaluminum sodium carbonate (DASC) as the active ingredient. The DASC is prepared by co-drying DASC with a polyol, and the resulting co-dried DASC/polyol is mixed with water to form the liquid composition. The antacid composition preferably contains additional polyol to further improve the translucency of the liquid composition.
