Philosophy:
We like to check children at 7 years old to assure there are no growth interferences that will affect facial growth and complicate the adult bite development and any future orthodontic care. Temporary braces are sometines used at 9 years old only on the adult teeth to eliminate and angulations or tooth interferences that will cause bad facial growth. The width of the palate is a critical measure to assure normal growth and tooth eruption and development. Palatal expansion takes only 4-5 weeks with the expander in place for 4-5 months. Full orthodontic treatment is generraly at age 12-13 with full braces that are self-ligating or with Invisalign Teen if a candidate. Adult care can be with regular small metal or tooth colored braces, Invisalign or clear aligners or Incognito, custom braces created for the inside of the teeth not visible to family or co-workers.
