Hematology and oncology care should be holistic experiences, not the usual co-opted 'holistic medicine' advertised, but a recognition that every patient is much more than their diagnosis, but first a person, and with multiple interacting systems. Evidence-based medicine is most appropriate whenever possible, rather than popular theory, and basic science is the most sound foundation.
