Maneuverable Self-Propelled Cart

US Patent:
6390213, May 21, 2002
Filed:
Nov 16, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/440737
Inventors:
Joel N. Bleicher - Council Bluffs IA 51503
International Classification:
B60K 102
US Classification:
180 651, 180 648, 180 193, 180 59, 280124179, 5 861
Abstract:
A maneuverable self-propelled cart having a drive assembly including independently suspended drive wheels for propelling the cart over rough or uneven surfaces. The drive assembly is comprised of a drive wheel carriage having at least two drive wheels. The drive wheel carriage may include a turntable or the like adapted to rotate the carriage about a substantially vertical axis relative to the frame of the cart. Each drive wheel may be independently suspended beneath the cart frame by a suspension apparatus so as to allow each drive wheel to individually engage a ground or floor surface.

Powdered Maneuverable Hospital Cart

US Patent:
5083625, Jan 28, 1992
Filed:
Jul 2, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/546946
Inventors:
Joel N. Bleicher - Council Bluffs IA
International Classification:
B60K 100
US Classification:
180 651
Abstract:
A powdered maneuverable cart with a cart frame including a top load bearing portion and a bottom portion interconnected having hydraulic cylinders for raising the top portion in relation to the bottom portion. Situated above the cart frame top portion is a generally horizontal load bearing portion having head and feet ends with means included for allowing the head and feet ends to be raised and lowered independently in relation to the cart frame top portion. The cart frame bottom portion includes four swivel wheels mounted at each of the four corners of the bottom portion for allowing rolling and turning movements of the cart. Situated between the four swivel wheels, and generally in the central area of the cart frame bottom portion, is a drive wheel carriage having two opposing drive wheels. The rotational rate and direction of each drive wheel may be controlled independently for steering the cart. In order that the cart may be moved about manually, and in short side to side movements, the drive wheel carriage includes means for raising and lowering the carriage so as to engage or disengage the drive wheels from the floor surface.

Reanimation Device And Method For Treating The Paralyzed Face

US Patent:
4799487, Jan 24, 1989
Filed:
May 11, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/048549
Inventors:
Joel N. Bleicher - Council Bluffs IA
International Classification:
A61N 100, H05G 0000
US Classification:
128419R
Abstract:
A device for the re-animation of the paralyzed face including electrodes implanted in muscles on the healthy side of the face, said electrodes sensing contractions and sending signals to a microprocessor, which in turn processes said signals and re-transmits them to other electrodes implanted in the counterpart muscles in the paralyzed side of the face, thereby stimulating said counterpart muscles to contract. Also, a method for treating the paralyzed face in which some exigency requires a delay before said device can be installed, including periodically electronically stimulating the muscles on the paralyzed side of the face, thereby preventing atrophy for whatever time span is required. In another embodiment an electromagnet implanted in the bone below the eye on the paralyzed side of the face receives signals from the non-paralyzed side of the face, which energize a current causing the electromagnet to pull the eyelid shut, said eyelid having ferrous material implanted therein.

Disposable Hydrotherapy Tank Liner

US Patent:
5465436, Nov 14, 1995
Filed:
Dec 29, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/366220
Inventors:
Joel N. Bleicher - Council Bluffs IA
International Classification:
A47K 302
US Classification:
4580
Abstract:
The present invention teaches a disposable hydrotherapy tank liner formed of a fluid impervious sheet material. The liner is secured to the upper rim of a hydrotherapy tank by means of any suitable fastener such as a plurality of clips. The liner is adapted to occupy the interior of the tank and serves to isolate the interior surface of the tank from contact with hydrotherapy fluids. The liner utilizes a pull strip or rip cord assembly to open a liner drain hole so that the therapist may avoid contact with the hydrotherapy fluids. Further, an adhesive applied to the exterior of the liner and surrounding the liner drain hole removably secures the liner to the bottom of the tank adjacent the tank drain hole to aid in preventing fluids from contacting the floor of the tank during draining.
