Method And Apparatus For A Tack Tool

US Patent:
6409152, Jun 25, 2002
Filed:
Jul 13, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/615136
Inventors:
Jim M. Bagley - Salt Lake City UT 84104
International Classification:
B25C 1100
US Classification:
254 18, 254 25, 254 28, 81 44, 7166
Abstract:
A tack tool apparatus and a method of use comprises a user operable, hand gripable, and storable apparatus for removing, inserting, and straightening a tack. The tack tool is an elongated member with one end formed into a first cylindrical member. The other end is formed into a forked wedge member. The forked wedge member is angularly displaced relative to the longitudinal length of the elongated member. The first cylindrical member has one end closed forming a convex portion. The first cylindrical member has an inner surface disposed about a coaxially positioned second cylindrical member. The second cylindrical member has a metallic retaining mechanism mounted within for positioning tacks during insertion. A method of using the tack tool to remove a tack from adjoined surfaces comprises a user grasping the elongated member with either hand, and positioning the forked wedge members bottom surface onto the surface of the structure of the structure containing the tack. The tack tool engages the tack head causing the tack head to move upwardly along the top surface of the forked wedge member thereby extracting the tack from the two adjoined structures.

Method And Apparatus For Automated Segmental Sewing Of Over-Sized Sewing Pattern

US Patent:
8515571, Aug 20, 2013
Filed:
Mar 2, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/410291
Inventors:
Jim Matthews Bagley - West Valley City UT, US
Assignee:
Gracewood Management, Inc. - West Valley City UT
International Classification:
D05B 19/08
US Classification:
700136
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for automated assisted sewing of an oversized, digitized sewing pattern, using a fabric retention mechanism and an automated sewing machine positioning mechanism. The sewing machine positioning mechanism is controlled by an actuator and provides for two dimensional positioning of a sewing machine with respect to the fabric retention mechanism. The oversized sewing pattern is segmented into pattern segments and the pattern segments are sewed sequentially in accordance with a selected order, with the fabric being repositioned after each segment is sewed. Cut points for pattern lines on the border of each pattern segment are matched by start points on the adjacent border of a subsequently sewed, adjacent pattern segment. A pattern program adjusts the pattern lines of each subsequently sewed segment to provide for continuity and alignment of the pattern lines which cross the borders between pattern segments.
