The Association of Legal Administrators, in association with the Law Library of Congress, recognized Fulbright's 8th Annual Litigation Trends Report succinct writing by awarding it with the Burton Award for Best Law Firm Publication. This award is conferred upon publications that are neither books, newsletters nor compendiums of law. The Burton Awards are supported by the Burton Foundation, a non-profit, academic organization that concentrates on rewarding plain, clear and concise language and avoiding archaic legalese. Fulbright's report is the result of its eighth annual survey of over 400 American and British counsel. Retaining an independent research firm to interview in-house counsel, the report gathers and analyzes their experiences and opinions on litigation. Submissions were judged by a panel of judges and legal educators. Led by Virginia Wise, a renowned teacher at Harvard Law School, the panel also includes William Ryan, a direct descendant of Noah Webster and former Chair of the White House Plain Language Committee.
