Shachar Ron - Cupertino CA, US
Assignee:
Apple Inc. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G06F 9/00, G09G 5/00, G06F 9/445
US Classification:
713 2, 345659
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for presenting visual content with a consistent orientation on a display of an electronic device, even when the device is powered down and powered up again. Last known orientation information used by an application program to present application content with a particular orientation can be stored in a preference file that may not be accessible to a boot loader used during a boot process. To ensure that the boot loader may present boot up content with the same particular orientation indicated by the orientation information stored in the preference file, a register accessible to the boot loader can be used to store the same orientation information.

Filed:
Oct 14, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/273365
Inventors:
Michael I. Ingrassia - San Jose CA, US
Jeffery T. Lee - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Apple Inc. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
H04H 20/71
US Classification:
455 301, 4554141, 455 661, 700 94, 707E17009, 707E17102, 707916, 709203, 709231
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for seamlessly switching media playback between a media broadcast, such as a radio broadcast, and media from a local media library. When an electronic device determines that an upcoming media item in a media broadcast is not of interest to a user, the electronic device can switch playback from the media stream to a media item from the electronic device local library. The selected local media item can be related to a previously broadcast media item to ensure continuity in the user's listening or viewing experience. The electronic device can switch away from the local media item and return to the media stream when the media stream again broadcasts media items or segments of interest to the user.

Dynamic Interpretation Of User Input In A Portable Electronic Device

US Patent:
8543739, Sep 24, 2013
Filed:
Jan 29, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/753296
Inventors:
Jeffery T. Lee - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Apple Inc. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G06F 3/00
US Classification:
710 8, 710 16
Abstract:
The embodiments describe both the interpreting and modifying the interpretation of an input event to an electronic device having limited user input resources. The input event interpretation can be based in part on a connection state of the device. In some cases, the interpretation of the input event can also be based upon an indication of a current operating state of the device in addition to or exclusive of the connection state. Furthermore, in some embodiments, an operating state of the portable electronic device can be resolved based in part on the connection state of the portable electronic device.

Automatic Discovery Of Metadata

US Patent:
2012015, Jun 21, 2012
Filed:
Feb 27, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/406279
Inventors:
Michael Ingrassia - San Jose CA, US
Jeffery Lee - San Jose CA, US
Dave Rempel - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
APPLE INC. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707740, 707736, 707770, 707E17089, 707E17075
Abstract:
This is directed to processing stored data to automatically generate metadata for the stored data. In particular, this is directed to identifying metadata associated with stored data, and identifying other data that relates to the stored data from one or more sources. A processing module can identify other data sharing some of the identified metadata, and can extract additional metadata associated with the identified other data. The extracted metadata can then be associated with the user's stored data. The processing module can extract additional metadata from any suitable source, including for example local application data, social networks or blogging sources, and other remote sources. In some embodiments, an electronic device can retrieve data from other users for a particular event based on metadata associated with the user's data for the event to form a master collection of data.
