As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, I realize it is a very difficult decision for parents to seek care for their child. Families are often referred to a psychiatrist for medications, but I want them to be well informed of all treatment options including medications, therapy, nutrition, etc. When medications are indicated, I try to find the fewest number and lowest effective dose. I strive to work closely with other mental health professionals and schools to provide the best care possible.
