System And Method For Compensating For Modulation Induced Frequency Shift During Transmission Of A Radio Frequency Signal

System And Method For Compensating For Modulation Induced Frequency Shift During Transmission Of A Radio Frequency Signal

US Patent:
8000667, Aug 16, 2011
Filed:
Feb 3, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/346991
Inventors:
Todd R. Witkowski - Zeeland MI, US
Jason L. Reene - Holland MI, US
Assignee:
Johnson Controls Technology Company - Holland MI
International Classification:
H04B 1/16, H04M 1/00, H04B 7/00, H04B 5/00
US Classification:
455208, 455 411, 455 412, 455 413, 4555692
Abstract:
A method for compensating for frequency shifts during transmission of an RF control signal includes receiving a request to enter a transmission mode from a user. A carrier signal having a frequency is generated and the frequency of the carrier signal is measured. The measured frequency of the carrier signal is compared to a desired frequency to determine if there is a difference between the measured frequency and the desired frequency. If there is a difference, it is determined if data is being modulated on the carrier signal. If data is not being modulated on the carrier signal, a correction is applied to the carrier signal frequency.

Compass System And Method For Determining A Reference Field Strength

Compass System And Method For Determining A Reference Field Strength

US Patent:
8140285, Mar 20, 2012
Filed:
Mar 31, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/415570
Inventors:
Jason L. Reene - Holland MI, US
Assignee:
Johnson Controls Technology Company - Holland MI
International Classification:
G06C 17/38, G06F 19/00
US Classification:
702 92, 33333, 33356
Abstract:
A compass system includes a magnetic field sensor for measuring an ambient magnetic field and a magnetic field generator, corresponding to the magnetic field sensor, configured to generate a reference magnetic field. The magnetic field sensor is configured to measure the reference magnetic field. The compass system further includes a control circuit operably connected to the magnetic field sensor and magnetic field generator, wherein the control circuit is configured to process the ambient magnetic field and the reference magnetic field measurements to determine an absolute reference field strength for use in calibrating the compass system.

System And Method For Training A Trainable Transmitter

System And Method For Training A Trainable Transmitter

US Patent:
2006021, Sep 28, 2006
Filed:
Mar 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/086268
Inventors:
Todd Witkowski - Zeeland MI, US
Jason Reene - Holland MI, US
International Classification:
H04Q 1/00, G05B 19/00
US Classification:
340825690, 340005250
Abstract:
A method for training a trainable transmitter in a vehicle includes receiving a request to enter a training mode of the trainable transmitter from a user. In response to the request, default mode data is retrieved from a memory and transmitted for a predetermined time. Upon expiration of the predetermined time, the trainable transmitter begins a training mode.

System And Method For Determining A Receiver Threshold For A Trainable Transmitter System

System And Method For Determining A Receiver Threshold For A Trainable Transmitter System

US Patent:
2006022, Oct 12, 2006
Filed:
Apr 12, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/104398
Inventors:
Jason Reene - Holland MI, US
International Classification:
G05B 19/00, H04Q 1/00
US Classification:
340005250, 340005260
Abstract:
A trainable transmitter includes a receiver circuit and a control circuit. The receiver circuit is configured to receive signals. The control circuit is coupled to the receiver circuit and is configured to determine a noise level for a frequency range of the receiver circuit. The control circuit is further configured to select and provide a receiver threshold to the receiver circuit. The receiver threshold is variable based on the noise level. The trainable transmitter may be integrated in a vehicle, in particular a vehicle interior element.
