Studies have included focused courses and clinical experience across the lifespan, as well as a 10 week preceptorship in the Emergency Department at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta Ohio. This preceptorship is designed so that the student is oriented to their choice specialty area and by the end of 10 weeks the student functions as a staff RN. I functioned as an RN in a 25 bed emergency department caring for groups of clients in both acute and non-acute conditions. This preceptorship advanced my knowledge in the critical care environment as well as gave me the opportunity to practice many skills and procedures in the clinical setting.
