Philosophy:
My goal is to provide competent, compassionate, ethical, and evidence based psychiatric care to children, adolescents, young adults and families. As a pediatric nurse practitioner for over 20 years, I have a strong understanding of physical illness and pediatric growth and development. I bring this knowledge with me as a child and family psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I am experienced in the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of child and adolescent conditions. These include behavioral difficulties (Oppositional and Defiant Disorder), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety Disorders, childhood psychotic disorders, drug abuse, and self-harming behaviors (cutting). I have a vast experience working with children with school special education problems and school reality issues (school problems, bullying, and self-esteem). I believe in a multifaceted approach in the care of childhood, adolescent and young adults. I use an eclectic approach to the treatment of a client. This may include individual therapy, family therapy, behavioral therapy and parent guidance. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Bowen Family Systems therapy techniques in my clinical practice. I most enjoy the psychopharmacotherapy approach as I love the interaction between mind, body and medications. Providing the service of excellent evidence based medications that are age and diagnosis appropriate is my area of interest
