Cutting Tool Tooth Form Including Set Teeth With Surface Features And Method Of Making Same

US Patent:
6598509, Jul 29, 2003
Filed:
Jun 29, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/896825
Inventors:
James Timothy Cook - Newton AL
Peter Blauvelt Hopper - Lunenburg MA
Assignee:
Simonds Industries, Inc. - Fitchburg MA
International Classification:
B27B 3314
US Classification:
83835, 125 1301, 83836
Abstract:
Disclosed are cutting blades for cutting tools and methods of making the blades. Such blades include tooth patterns with both set and non-set teeth. Each of the set teeth are set at an angle with respect to the jaw line of the blade, and each set tooth includes at least one surface feature that is effective to direct a portion of swarf that is produced via the cutting action of the blade into gullets of the blade such that less swarf overall is directed to the cutting surface of the objects being cut by the blade.

Band Saw Blade

US Patent:
2007021, Sep 20, 2007
Filed:
Feb 26, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/678935
Inventors:
James Cook - Newton AL, US
Stephen Cook - Newton AL, US
International Classification:
B23D 61/12, B23D 63/00
US Classification:
083013000, 076112000, 083835000
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to band saw blades often used for cutting wood at a sawmill. A band saw blade has teeth, and at least one tooth has a back angle that is greater than the back angle of conventional band saw blades. The greater back angle results in teeth having a smaller tooth angle so that the teeth make deeper penetration into wood or other materials that are cut by the blade.

Band Saw Blade

US Patent:
2007019, Aug 30, 2007
Filed:
Apr 6, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/399197
Inventors:
James Cook - Newton AL, US
Stephen Cook - Newton AL, US
International Classification:
B26D 1/46
US Classification:
083013000, 083661000
Abstract:
The invention relates to the structure of a band saw blade. The band saw blade has teeth with an improved geometrical shape that increases the efficiency of the blade. The tooth shape of a band saw blade is defined in part by the back angle and the hook angle, wherein the back angle of the disclosed embodiment exceeds the value of back angle of conventional band saw blades.
