Abstract:
An integrated medical software system with custom reporting is disclosed. The system comprises a database that stores clinical data, scheduling data, patient data, and financial data in a normalized data format; a clinical module that creates an electronic document and that captures clinical data in the electronic document in the normalized data format during an encounter with a patient; a scheduling module that captures scheduling data in the normalized data format and that schedules the patient and at least one of a clinician, a staff member, and equipment at a healthcare provider using the scheduling data and the patient data; an account management module that captures financial data in the normalized data format and that creates at least one of a bill, a claim, or a statement for the patient using the financial data and the clinical data; a reports component with multiple filter and sort options that are defined by a user of the system to generate custom reports that display the clinical data, the scheduling data, the patient data, and the financial data in various customized combinations according to the filter and sort options that are chosen to generate the custom reports; and a framework module that is integrated with the clinical module, the scheduling module, the account management module, and the reports component using a common architecture and that supports an exchange of the clinical data, the scheduling data, the patient data, and the financial data between those modules, the reports component, and the database in the normalized data format, wherein the filter and sort options corresponding to a custom report can be saved for future use in generating custom reports.

An integrated medical software system with location-driven bill coding is disclosed. The system comprises an information component that automatically retrieves payment method data and demographic data for a patient and location data for a healthcare provider; a clinical component that captures at least one of a diagnosis code, a procedure code, and an evaluation and management (E&M) code as at least one of a clinician and a staff member at the healthcare provider inputs clinical data for the patient into the an electronic document during an encounter with the patient; a mapping component that automatically associates a billing code with the at least one of a pathology code, a procedural code, and an E&M code and assigns a service cost to the billing code based on a pre-defined fee schedule, said pre-defined fee schedule being automatically chosen based on the location data for the healthcare provider; and a service detail entry component that uses the payment method data and the demographic data for the patient and the service cost to automatically generate at least one of a bill, a claim, and a statement for the patient.

A system and method for gathering quality data for a plurality of healthcare providers over an extended computer network is disclosed. The system and method comprise an enhanced services server in electronic data communication with a plurality of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems via a network connection, the plurality of EHR systems being configured to capture patient data for a plurality of patients at the plurality of healthcare providers' sites during a plurality of encounters with each of the plurality of patients, and the enhanced services server being built on the same architecture as the plurality of EHR systems. Electronic quality of care forms are retrieved from one or more form managers via the network connection and a plurality of fields in each of the electronic quality of care forms are automatically populated using the patient data captured by the plurality of EHR systems. The completed electronic quality of care forms are then automatically transmitted to one or more form receivers via the network connection, the one or more form receivers being one or more organizations that process quality of care data to qualify healthcare providers for at least one of certifications, accreditations, and monetary incentives.

Abstract:
An integrated medical software system with embedded transcription functionality is disclosed. The system comprises a clinical module for capturing clinical data for a patient in a first electronic document and a communication component that communicates the clinical data to a rule-based clinical decision support (CDS) system and receives at least one of an alert, warning, reminder, and recommendation back from the CDS system based on the clinical data. The CDS system is configured to compare the clinical data against a knowledge base to identify the at least one of an alert, warning, reminder, and recommendation; the clinical data is serialized into a standardized database language and placed into a first electronic clinical document defined by a clinical document exchange standard before being communicated to the CDS system; and the at least one of an alert, warning, reminder, and recommendation is provided in a second electronic clinical document defined by the clinical document exchange standard when received back from the CDS system.
