High Pressure Check Valve Fittings

US Patent:
6206032, Mar 27, 2001
Filed:
Jul 11, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/614009
Inventors:
James H. Hill - Searcy AR
International Classification:
F16K15/04
US Classification:
1375395
Abstract:
High pressure check valves and fittings, including button head fittings, sealant fittings, and lubrication adapters, that are equipped with dynamically self-centering plungers. Each metallic fitting comprises a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The inlet end of each may be configured to be mechanically engaged by high pressure hoses, grease guns, or the like. The outlet end is configured, as by threading, for coupling to the desired application. The inlet and outlet are in fluid flow communication, and meet at an internal valve seat. A steel ball forms the check valve element. The ball is dynamically controlled and centered by a dynamic plunger coaxially and slidably disposed in the fitting. A return spring coaxially mounted on the plunger normally urges the ball and the plunger towards the valve seat to close the fitting. A plunger crown is integral with an elongated, dual-diameter shaft.

Automatic Jar Lid Opener

US Patent:
6125718, Oct 3, 2000
Filed:
Dec 18, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/216757
Inventors:
James H. Hill - Searcy AR
International Classification:
B67B 700
US Classification:
81 32
Abstract:
An automatic, power-driven appliance loosens screw type lids from jars of varying sizes and shapes. A vertically upright housing is placed upon a flat, supporting surface like a counter-top or the like. The lower housing base as a frictional pad for engaging the jar. A spaced apart, movable head is constrained for vertical movements within the container chamber defined by the housing. The head is lowered or raised by a motor driving a lead-screw system. A rotatable friction chuck mounted in the head contacts and rotates the lid to be loosened. The friction chuck comprises a hollow drive shaft and means for shining Laser light through it to center a container to be opened. The start button should be pushed after centering a jar within the housing chamber, whereupon an automatic opening sequence commences.

Free Flow Fitting

US Patent:
4977927, Dec 18, 1990
Filed:
Jan 16, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/465440
Inventors:
James H. Hill - Searcy AR
International Classification:
F16K 1500, F16K 1706
US Classification:
137539
Abstract:
A high pressure lubricant fitting or check valve comprises an internal retainer generally in the form of a parallelipiped to prevent spring deformation and undesired plugging off during use. An inlet connects to a high pressure grease source for introduction of grease through an inlet passageway axially aligned with a larger diameter outlet passageway. The passageways are separated by a valve seat. A rigid retainer threadably mounts within the outlet passageway and defines dual flow paths of similar dimension and configuration. A ball valve which selectively blocks the valve seat to control fluid flow is biased by a spring coaxially mounted upon a rigid stem emanating from the retainer. Fluid flow is established about the outer periphery of the valve ball and around the spring and through the dual flow paths. In response to inputted lubricants, the ball and spring are forcibly deflected downwardly and limited by the rigid stem.
