US Patent:
7397163, Jul 8, 2008
Filed:
Aug 17, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/506079
Inventors:
James A. Cook - Orlando FL, US
David T. Allen - Longwood FL, US
Assignee:
Siemens Power Generation, Inc. - Orlando FL
International Classification:
H02K 1/12, H02K 5/04, H02K 15/02
US Classification:
310258, 310217
Abstract:
A stator core module assembly () is provided which is adapted to be mounted to at least one structural element () coupled to a stator frame (). The stator core module assembly comprises a stator core module () adapted to form part of a stator core () and at least one keybar (A, B) having a length less than a width of the stator core. The keybar may be coupled to the stator core module. The stator core module assembly further comprises at least one attachment member () for coupling the keybar to the structural element coupled to the stator frame.

Method And Apparatus For Measuring Compression In A Stator Core

US Patent:
7946023, May 24, 2011
Filed:
Nov 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/285834
Inventors:
James Allan Cook - Orlando FL, US
David T. Allen - Longwood FL, US
Assignee:
Siemens Energy, Inc. - Orlando FL
International Classification:
H02K 15/00, H01F 3/04, G01R 31/28
US Classification:
29596, 29609, 29593, 29732
Abstract:
The present invention a method and apparatus for measuring the compression of a stator core that comprises attaching a measuring device to a tensioner , placing the tensioner on an end of a through-bolt of the stator core, and performing at least one act of tensioning the stator core with the tensioner. Then measuring a compression state of the stator core by the measuring device registers determining the amount of relative compression achieved by the act of tensioning, the relative compression is the amount of actual compression of the core and the amount of stretch of the through-bolt. Finally determining an actual compression state of the stator core based on the measuring.

Method And Apparatus For Checking Stator Core Alignment

US Patent:
7397162, Jul 8, 2008
Filed:
Nov 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/285833
Inventors:
James Allan Cook - Orlando FL, US
Thomas M. Majernik - Pittsburgh PA, US
Assignee:
Siemens Power Generation, Inc. - Orlando FL
International Classification:
H02K 1/06
US Classification:
310217, 310259
Abstract:
In one embodiment the present invention provides for a method for checking the alignment of a stator core that comprises placing a laser source and a target a given distance apart on a stator core and activating the laser such that the laser strikes the target. Then measuring on the target where the laser strikes, and interpreting the measurement to determine any misalignment of the stator core in the given distance.
