Philosophy:
James M. Johnston, MD is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He serves as team physician for the Idaho Steelheads, the Idaho Stampede, Meridian High School, and the FC Nova Soccer Club. He earned his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and his medical degree from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his surgical internship at the University of Oklahoma Medical College, orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, and sports medicine fellowship at Salt Lake Knee and Sports Medicine. Dr. Johnston served in the U.S. Navy in Charleston, South Carolina as head of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Naval Hospital. He was deployed to the Persian Gulf as head of Surgical Team 10 in 1988 and again to Desert Shield / Desert Storm. He has practiced in Boise since 1992 and joined Boise Orthopedic Clinic in 1999.
