International Classification:
A44B 1700
US Classification:
267 49, 267260, 267269
Abstract:
A vehicular leaf spring tip insert is provided. The insert includes a pad portion providing a liner between adjacent leaf spring tips, at least one shank portion extending from the pad portion to a free end, the shank portion having a generally axial bore, the shank portion also having a protuberance extending outward therefrom with a leaf spring engagement surface facing toward the pad portion at an axial distance therefrom, the protuberance being dimensionally adapted and configured so that the protuberance is compressed radially inward sufficiently to be received through the tip opening upon insertion of the shank portion therethrough, and a pin for insertion into the shank bore, the pin retaining the shank protuberance in a position to extend the protuberance radially outward to enable the shank leaf spring engagement surface to become engageable with the leaf spring.

Shore Power System Including A Hvac System

Shore Power System Including A Hvac System

US Patent:
7287582, Oct 30, 2007
Filed:
May 19, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/848783
Inventors:
David Turner - Bloomfield Hills MI, US
James Lester Oliver - Orion MI, US
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
B60H 1/00
US Classification:
165202, 237 123 R, 62244, 318 3
Abstract:
A shore power HVAC system for a vehicle is provided. The vehicle has a vehicular HVAC system with an engine compressor, a condenser, and an expansion valve and an evaporator coupled to each other in series by a plurality of conduits. The shore power HVAC system includes an electric compressor structured to compress a coolant fluid and a diverter valve structured to allow fluid to pass through a selected fluid path. The electric compressor is coupled to, and in fluid communication with the evaporator and the diverter valve. The diverter valve is further coupled to the engine compressor. Thus, a first coolant fluid loop and a second coolant fluid loop are created. The first coolant fluid loop passes through, in series, the engine compressor, the diverter valve, the condenser, the expansion valve, and the evaporator. The second coolant fluid loop passes through, in series, the electric compressor, the diverter valve, the condenser, the expansion valve and the evaporator. The diverter valve selectively directs which loop the coolant fluid may pass through.

Continuously Variable Dual Mode Transmission

Continuously Variable Dual Mode Transmission

US Patent:
7473202, Jan 6, 2009
Filed:
Mar 27, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/390356
Inventors:
Timothy J. Morscheck - Portage MI, US
Alan C. Stine - Kalamazoo MI, US
Joseph D. Reynolds - Climax MI, US
James L. Oliver - Orion MI, US
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16H 37/02
US Classification:
475208
Abstract:
A dual mode continuously variable transmission for use with motor vehicles includes a transmission input shaft, a transmission output shaft, and a variator disposed between the transmission input shaft and the transmission output shaft. A mixer gear set is operably disposed between the transmission input shaft and the variator output shaft. A clutching element is operably disposed between the input shaft the mixer gear set. The variator is configured to continuously vary a ratio of input torque to output torque between the variator shafts responsive to commands from an electronic control unit. The variator input shaft is drivingly connected to the input shaft and the variator output shaft is drivingly connected to the output shaft. The clutching element selectively connects and disconnects the input shaft and the mixer gear set to operate the transmission in a power splitting mode of operation and a variator only mode of operation. An electronic control unit incorporates logic rules by which the clutching element maintains the transmission in a variator-only mode of operation in a first vehicle speed range, and maintains the transmission in a power splitting mode of operation in a second vehicle speed range greater than the first vehicle speed range.
