Backlit Full Travel Key Assembly

Backlit Full Travel Key Assembly

US Patent:
6743993, Jun 1, 2004
Filed:
Feb 21, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/082806
Inventors:
James T. Clark - Spokane WA
Aaron D. Johnson - Colfax WA
Assignee:
Advanced Input Devices, Inc. - Coeur dAlene ID
International Classification:
H01H 900
US Classification:
200314
Abstract:
A key assembly including a key support structure, a switch, a base, and a moveable key. A light source, such as an LED, is mounted to the base to provide illumination for backlighting a translucent region disposed in the moveable key. In operation, when pressure is exerted against the moveable key, the moveable key axially translates to operate the switch. When the moveable key is in its at-rest position, light from the light source will be efficiently and uniformly dispersed through the key assembly to backlight the translucent region based on the location of said light source.

Reagent Bottle Identification Method

Reagent Bottle Identification Method

US Patent:
5420408, May 30, 1995
Filed:
May 12, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/241469
Inventors:
Bruce Weyrauch - Newman Lake WA
Norman Kelln - Spokane WA
Leon Schmidt - Spokane WA
Charles Butts - Spokane WA
James Clark - Spokane WA
Kelsey Loughlin - Spokane WA
Gary Richardson - Mica WA
Assignee:
Schiapparelli Biosystems, Inc. - Fairfield NJ
International Classification:
G06K 710
US Classification:
235454
Abstract:
An automatic chemical analyzer utilizes reagents supplied in reagent bottles. The reagent bottles are labeled on their bottom surfaces with an identification label bearing a machine-readable identification code. The automatic chemical analyzer includes a reagent tray having a plurality of tray apertures therein which receive coded reagent bottles and which expose the bottom surface of each bottle for optical viewing of the machine-readable identification code. The analyzer further includes optical scanner means positioned below the reagent tray for reading the machine-readable identification code on the bottom surfaces of reagent bottles within the tray apertures. The tray apertures are selectively located over the optical scanner means so that the analyzer can identify the reagent bottle and the contents thereof. The identification label has a spaced pair of position reference dots defining and orienting a label area. A plurality of bit fields surround the position reference dots, their positions being defined by the position reference dots.
