System And Method For Selective Voicemail Transcription

US Patent:
2012003, Feb 9, 2012
Filed:
Aug 6, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/852190
Inventors:
James JACKSON - Austin TX, US
Philip Cunetto - Austin TX, US
Mehrad Yasrebi - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P. - Reno NV
International Classification:
H04M 3/50, G10L 15/26
US Classification:
379 9324, 704235, 704E15043
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for selectively transcribing messages. Five general approaches are disclosed herein. The first approach is directed to checking for a transcription capable client, which transcribes messages when a client device is capable of receiving transcriptions. The second and third approaches are platform-controlled and user-controlled predefined selective transcription. One aspect of this approach is driven by transcription rules. The fourth approach is user-controlled on-demand selective transcription before the message is stored or deposited for transcription. An example of this is a user transferring an incoming caller to voicemail and indicating that the voicemail be transcribed. The fifth approach is user-controlled on-demand selective transcription after the message is stored. In one embodiment of this approach, a user must specifically request that a stored message be transcribed.

Unified Messaging Accessibility Architecture

US Patent:
2010029, Nov 18, 2010
Filed:
May 12, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/464564
Inventors:
James Jackson - Austin TX, US
Mehrad Yasrebi - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
AT&T Intellectual Property I, LP - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709206
Abstract:
A system and method for depositing and retrieving message using an accessibility service, such as TTY, within a unified messaging platform. A unified messaging platform is configured to receive accessibility service signals and convert those signals into a text-based encoding that is then stored as a message within the unified messaging platform for later retrieval. The unified messaging platform is further configured to retrieve messages and re-encode the message into a format compatible with the accessibility service. Audio recordings can be converted to a text-encoding via an automated speech recognition module, and text encodings can be converted to accessibility signals, which are transmitted to the user of the accessibility service.

System And Method To Prevent Endpoint Device Recovery Flood In Ngn

US Patent:
2011009, Apr 21, 2011
Filed:
Oct 20, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/589209
Inventors:
Chaoxin Qiu - Austin TX, US
James E. Jackson - Austin TX, US
Mehrad Yasrebi - Austin TX, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/16, G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709224, 709245, 709235
Abstract:
A mechanism is provided for recovering from a catastrophic failure that results in a large number of user endpoints attempting to come on line simultaneously after an NGN is restored. In an enhanced DNS load balancer, DNS queries from the user end points relating to a particular NGN edge device are selectively dropped if a rate of queries for the particular edge device suddenly increases or exceeds a threshold. The query dropping may also be based in part on the class of service assigned to the user endpoint.

Methods And Systems For Customized Content Services With Unified Messaging Systems

US Patent:
2011013, Jun 9, 2011
Filed:
Dec 9, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/634626
Inventors:
Mehrad YASREBI - Austin TX, US
James JACKSON - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P. - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 17/30, G10L 15/26
US Classification:
707748, 704235, 704E15043, 707E17059
Abstract:
Profile information and other information about users are received from information sources into a unified messaging platform. Multimedia messages and files for users are converted to text using approximation algorithms. Text and multimedia messages and files for users are analyzed using confidence scores and thresholds. Profile information, file keyword information and message keyword information are used to identify and transmit a limited amount of information about users to information consumers and content service providers. Information consumers and content service providers can customize their content that is presented to users.

International Classification:
H04M 3/42
US Classification:
379 8822
Abstract:
Calls placed to a call recipient bypass the terminating messaging system, creating an enhanced message in the call originator's messaging system and delivering the enhanced message using alternate routing information. A caller creates enhanced messages for a call recipient even when the call recipient's messaging system does not support such functionality. The caller also embeds stored content and/or use links in the enhanced messages to allow the message to be modified and/or deleted before it is accessed by the call recipient.
