Controller For Intravascular Catheter System

US Patent:
5336167, Aug 9, 1994
Filed:
Jul 22, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/733498
Inventors:
James B. Sullivan - Pittsburgh PA
Eric R. Moore - Pittsburgh PA
Assignee:
Theratek International, Inc. - Miami Lakes FL
International Classification:
A61B 1720
US Classification:
604 22
Abstract:
An intravascular catheter system has a catheter with a rotating tip and a fluid path to permit fluid to be ejected around the tip for cooling the tip. The system has an electric motor for rotating the catheter tip and a second motor for con trolling the fluid flow. A control circuit sets the speed of the two motors and also monitors the speed and other parameters for operational errors. If an error is detected for either motor, the entire system, including both motors, is automatically shut down. The control circuit utilizes two processors, a main processor for system control and speed control of both motors and a slave processor for monitoring the speed of the catheter motor. The main processor provides data regarding desired speed to the catheter motor and to the slave processor and the slave processor provides signals the main processor when it detects a speed error.

Control System For Precision Spinal Adjustment

US Patent:
4984127, Jan 8, 1991
Filed:
Apr 4, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/333019
Inventors:
Joseph M. Evans - Export PA
E. Rex Moore - Pittsburgh PA
James B. Sullivan - Pittsburgh PA
Assignee:
Kinetic Technology, Inc. - Greensburg PA
International Classification:
A61F 500
US Classification:
361179
Abstract:
A control system for a chiropractic adjustment instrument comprising a microprocessor programmable to control various parameters of an adjustor head to be driven against the spinal vertebrate of a patient. A solenoid is associated with the adjustor head which is energized by a capacitor. The capacitor is charged by a charging circuit to the programmed voltage level. The pressure of the adjustor head against the patient is sensed and when the pressure reaches a predetermined level, the capacitor is discharged to the solenoid to drive the adjustor head against the spinal vertebrate of the patient.

Cooking Table

US Patent:
4369763, Jan 25, 1983
Filed:
Aug 29, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/182790
Inventors:
James E. Sullivan - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
F24C 116
US Classification:
126276
Abstract:
A cooking table of the type having a stationary portion at which persons may be seated and a mobile portion comprising a griddle plate movable from table to table. The stationary portion of the table is essentially of U-shape adapted to receive the mobile portion in the hollow of the U to enable preparation of foods, meats and the like and demonstration thereof under the immediate observation of the patrons seated at the table. Gas is made available for use in the griddle when the mobile portion of the table is in place, by conduits or pipes with quick connect and disconnect couplings. Other features for the safety, health and comfort of the persons seated at the table include insulating material in the walls of the mobile unit, flame retardant angles on the underside of the griddle plate to block possible injury to guests seated at the table, and kerf troughs on the underside of the griddle plate to insure collection of grease in perimeter troughs on the inside of the U-opening in the stationary portion. Leveler bolts enable leveling of the griddle plate or other adjustment of the level thereof.
