Dynamic Calibration For An X-Ray Machine

US Patent:
4768216, Aug 30, 1988
Filed:
Aug 7, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/083626
Inventors:
James R. Harvey - Kearns UT
Karen M. Biesel - Sandy UT
Richard L. Anderton - West Jordan UT
Assignee:
Diasonics Inc. - San Francisco CA
International Classification:
H05G 134
US Classification:
378110
Abstract:
A dynamic calibration and self-check circuit for a mobile X-ray machine. A high voltage regulator circuit provides dynamic regulation of peak anode voltage and a tube current regulator circuit provides dynamic regulation of the X-ray filament current which controls the X-ray tube current. In the regulation of the anode voltage, a voltage sensor provides continuous feedback of the actual anode voltage of the tube to the regulation circuit. A processor selects a predetermined value for the pulse width duration of the high voltage regulator. When an exposure cycle commences, the preselective value is compared with the actual sensed value in an error amplifier. The error amplifier generates an error signal which varies the pulse width of the drive signal to control the peak high voltage to the anode. In the control of the tube current, a sensor which measures the actual tube current is compared with a predetermined value selected by the processor in a second error amplifier. Also, a pulse width modulator provides a filament driving signal of a preselected duration.

Imaging And Treatment Apparatus Having A Floor-Mounted Guiding Track

US Patent:
5386453, Jan 31, 1995
Filed:
May 12, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/881771
Inventors:
Larry E. Harrawood - Sandy UT
James R. Harvey - Salt Lake City UT
Assignee:
Diasonics, Inc. - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
H05G 102
US Classification:
378196
Abstract:
An apparatus having a support for supporting a subject on a surface and an imager for imaging the subject. The imager is movably coupled to a track to allow relative movement of the imager about the support. The track is located substantially along a plane which is substantially parallel to the surface of the support. The support may, in some embodiments, be rotatable from a horizontal to a vertical position for certain procedures. The track provides movement of the imager about at least three sides of the apparatus and, in some embodiments, is affixed to the floor. Further, the track is substantially aligned with a centerline of the support surface. This provides a firm support for the imaging means, but keeps the support structure at a position where it will not interfere with clinical operations.

Fiber Redirect System, Multi-Axis Robotic Wrist And Fiber Placement Apparatus Incorporating Same And Related Methods

US Patent:
6994324, Feb 7, 2006
Filed:
May 2, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/428332
Inventors:
James L. Harvey - Salt Lake City UT, US
Douglas G. Harris - West Valley City UT, US
James M. Brown - Salt Lake City UT, US
Boyd Hatch - West Valley City UT, US
Assignee:
Alliant Techsystems Inc. - Edina MN
International Classification:
B66D 1/00
US Classification:
254388
Abstract:
A fiber redirect system for use with a multi-axis robotic wrist and fiber placement system and methods of using the same are provided. The fiber redirect system may include one or more redirect mechanisms configured to alter the path of one or more fiber tows fed from a creel assembly to a fiber placement head. The redirect mechanism may be located and configured so as to be centered about either the intersection of the pitch and yaw axes of the robotic wrist or the intersection of the yaw and roll axes of the robotic wrist. In one exemplary embodiment, a first redirect mechanism is centered about the intersection of the pitch and yaw axes, a second redirect mechanism is centered about the intersection of the yaw and roll axes and a third redirect mechanism may be centered about the roll axis.

Patient Support Table

US Patent:
5230112, Jul 27, 1993
Filed:
Jul 20, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/916509
Inventors:
Larry E. Harrawood - Sandy UT
James R. Harvey - Salt Lake City UT
Blain Erikson - Summit Park UT
Assignee:
Diasonics, Inc. - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
A61G 1300
US Classification:
5607
Abstract:
A patient support table comprising a first patient support surface. The first patient support surface, in a preferred embodiment, is comprised of an x-ray translucent material such as carbon fiber. In a preferred embodiment, the top of the first patient support surface is for supporting a patient and is slightly concave. The patient support table also comprises a support, with the support being affixed to the first end of the first patient support surface at a first end of the support and extends beyond the third end of the first patient support surface. The support is affixed in such a manner that the first patient support surface may be interchanged with a second patient support surface, wherein the second patient support surface has all of the properties of the first patient support surface. The patient support table also comprises a base. The base is affixed to a second end of the support.
