Abstract:
The draper canvas of the header includes a strip of a resilient material that stands outwardly and forwardly of a front edge thereof and has an outer barrier surface, an inner barrier surface, and a front barrier surface received and contained in structure of a cutter bar and a front draper support plate having a plurality of barrier elements in face-to-face closely spaced relation with the barrier surfaces to form a multiple sided barrier interface between the cutter bar and draper fabric for excluding cut crop from the interior of the header. The strip runs within the container structure with minimal contact to reduce friction and wear.

Abstract:
A flexible cutterbar support apparatus with integral adjustable torsional preload mechanism for connecting a cutterbar support arm to a header frame for upward and downward movement. The mechanism includes a first element connected to the support arm and extending about a second element configured for connection to the frame, and at least one resilient biasing element disposed between the first element and the second element and biasable by generation of a torsional loading condition between the first and second elements for applying a preload force therebetween. A preload adjusting mechanism in connection with at least one of the first element and the second element is operable for selectably adjusting the biasing of the at least one resilient biasing element in a manner for adjusting the preload force. The preload mechanism is also operable for damping vibrations emanating from the cutterbar, and can be used in cooperation with apparatus for damping the up and down movements thereof.

Abstract:
An actuating mechanism for a header drive reversing assembly on a combine is disclosed wherein the linkage for actuating the drive reverser is interconnected with the linkage for disengaging the primary drive so that the drive reverser cannot be actuated while the primary drive is operatively driving the header. The linkages are connected to a single control lever to prevent the actuation of the drive reverser while the primary drive is engaged. The control lever is pivotally mounted for movement along two generally perpendicular directions and is engageable with a forked bracket when positioned for actuating the drive reverser to control the direction of flow of hydraulic fluid to the drive reverser.

Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a corn head auger crop divider located in the auger trough of a corn head. The divider is positioned between the center row divider and center of the feeder house opening. The divider does not contact the transverse auger and transverse auger flighting. The divider consists of a rear divider partially nested within the front divider. The front divider has a triangularly shaped top region. This orients a pair of side embankments so as to smoothly alter the flow of corn crop. In operation, the corn ears are pushed into the auger trough by the gathering chains within the row divider. The transverse auger pushes the corn crop to the center of the corn head where it contacts the side embankment of the front divider. The side embankment changes the direction of the corn crops flow so that it is directed into the feeder house opening.

A system for supporting a cutterbar of a crop harvesting header includes a first arm pivotably secured to the header. The first arm includes a first portion configured to support the cutterbar. The first arm includes a second portion including a torsion device having a mass of elastic material connected to an adjustment assembly. In a harvesting and threshing machine having concaves cooperative with rotatable threshing and separating apparatus there is provided a shearbolt safety mechanism coupled to a concave clearance indicator so that when a foreign object enters the threshing and separating apparatus and exerts a force above a predetermined level between the concaves and the threshing and separating apparatus, the shearbolt safety mechanism is effective to cause the concaves to drop to a fully lowered position and the concave clearance indicator to indicate the positioning of the concaves to the operator.

Abstract:
A control mechanism for a combine harvester is disclosed wherein the engagement and disengagement of both the main drive and the auxiliary drive reversing mechanism can be controlled from a single lever. The control lever is pivotally mounted for rotational movement about a pair of perpendicularly disposed pivot axes, one of the pivot axes being rotatable about the other axis. A pair of clutch dogs corresponding respectively to the main drive and drive reverser are engageable with the control lever and separated by a plate-like barrier to prevent a disengagement of one clutch dog and the engagement of the other clutch dog except when the control lever is in a position to effect disengagement of both drive mechanisms. An overcenter linkage is provided with the drive reverser clutch dog to hold the control lever in an engaged position without further input from the operator.
