Apparatus For, And Methods Of, Providing A Universal Format Of Pixels And For Scaling Fields In The Pixels

US Patent:
5542041, Jul 30, 1996
Filed:
Oct 6, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/319427
Inventors:
James J. Corona - San Diego CA
Assignee:
Brooktree Corporation - San Diego CA
International Classification:
G06F 1500
US Classification:
395162
Abstract:
Raster display memories are often arranged to output groups of pixels in progressive blocks, each having a plurality of pixels and each pixel having a plurality of fields. The fields in each pixel may provide color, overlay and cursor information for an individual position on a video screen. The numbers of bits in each pixel and in each field may be variable in different applications. In this system, control information indicates the starting position of each block, the location of each pixel in each block and each field in each pixel and the width of each pixel and each field in number of bits. Using this control information, the system recovers the pixels in each block and the fields in each pixel and processes such information to provide a display of the pixel information on a video screen. The number of bits contained in each field may be expanded to a width (e. g. 8) when the field width is less than eight (8) bits.

Method And System For Independent Control Of Multiple Windows In A Graphics Display System

US Patent:
5475812, Dec 12, 1995
Filed:
Aug 29, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/299170
Inventors:
James Corona - San Diego CA
Randal L. Henderson - West Hurley NY
Gregory D. Laib - West Hurley NY
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 314, G06F 1562
US Classification:
395158
Abstract:
A method and system for independent control of multiple windows in a graphics display system. Intensity data for a first plurality of pixels is specified for an underlying image within a first window. A first window identifier is associated with each of the first plurality of pixels. Next, intensity data for a second plurality of pixels is specified for an overlying image within a second window. A second window identifier is associated with each of the second plurality of pixels. The intensity data and window identifiers for the overlying and underlying images are then stored in separate locations within a frame buffer. Finally, an overall image is displayed, wherein the overall image contains the underlying image and the overlying image superimposed over at least a portion of the underlying image. The intensity data and the window identifiers are utilized to display the overall image. The window identifiers provide for independent control of the first and second windows so that the first plurality of pixels can be updated while the overall image is displayed.

Apparatus For, And Method Of, Interpolating Between Graphics And Video Pixels In An Expanded Image

US Patent:
6181350, Jan 30, 2001
Filed:
May 20, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/650820
Inventors:
James Corona - San Diego CA
Assignee:
Conexant Systems, Inc. - Newport Beach CA
International Classification:
G06T 340
US Classification:
345439
Abstract:
An image has a portion formulated partially from graphics pixels and partially from video pixels. This image portion is interpolated to provide an enlargement of such image portion. The interpolation or enlargement may be provided sequentially in two (2) coordinate directions (e. g. horizontal and vertical) or alternatively in only one of such directions. The enlargement may be alternatively provided simultaneously in both coordinate directions. The enlargement of the image portion in each of the coordinate directions may be obtained by interpolating video pixel(s) in such coordinate direction between each pair of adjacent video pixels in such coordinate direction and by otherwise interpolating graphics pixel(s) between such pair of adjacent pixels in such coordinate direction. In other words, graphics pixel(s) may be provided between each pair of adjacent pixels in each of the coordinate directions when one or both of the adjacent pixels in such pair are graphics. The enlargement may be to any extent desired in the coordinate directions.

Optimizing A Receiver For Multiple Antenna Configurations

US Patent:
2011026, Nov 3, 2011
Filed:
Oct 29, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/916114
Inventors:
Hao Xu - San Diego CA, US
Robert Jason Fuchs - San Diego CA, US
Ke Liu - San Diego CA, US
James Corona - San Diego CA, US
Zhifei Fan - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM INCORPORATED - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04L 27/06
US Classification:
375340
Abstract:
A method for optimizing a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) receiver for multiple antenna configurations is disclosed. A noise covariance is determined based on a noise estimate of a wireless signal. A Cholesky decomposition matrix is determined based on the noise covariance. A whitening matrix is determined based on the Cholesky decomposition matrix. The wireless signal is whitened using the whitening matrix.

Filed:
Apr 9, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/120599
Inventors:
Wei Fu - San Diego CA, US
Joseph J. Balardeta - Del Mar CA, US
James Corona - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
Applied Micro Circuits Corporation - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H03D 3/24
US Classification:
375376, 375371, 375377, 714770
Abstract:
A digital delay lock loop (DLL) circuit for receiving parallel data and clock signals, deserializing the high speed parallel data to low speed data, and for improving setup and hold times. A DLL circuit for an N-bit datapath, includes a clock DLL configured to provide a clock signal pulse within an eye opening of each of N data signals. The DLL circuit further includes N data DLLs, each being configured to adjust a delay of a data signal to substantially center the eye opening of the data signal on the clock signal pulse.
