Non-Calcemic, Antiproliferative, Transcriptionally Active 24-Fluorinated Hybrid Analogs Of 1.Alpha.,-25-Dihydroxy Vitamin D.sub.3

Non-Calcemic, Antiproliferative, Transcriptionally Active 24-Fluorinated Hybrid Analogs Of 1.Alpha.,-25-Dihydroxy Vitamin D.sub.3

US Patent:
6043386, Mar 28, 2000
Filed:
Jun 1, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/323106
Inventors:
Gary H. Posner - Baltimore MD
Jae Kyoo Lee - San Diego CA
Qiang Wang - Baltimore MD
Assignee:
John Hopkins University - Baltimore MD
International Classification:
C07C40100, A61K 3159
US Classification:
552653
Abstract:
Fluorinated analogs of 1. alpha. ,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. sub. 3. These analogs are synthesized in a convergent manner by joining A-ring and C,D-ring fragments. Each hybrid analog, having a calcemia-lowering 1-hydroxymethyl group and a potentiating 16-ene-24,24-difluorinated C,D-ring and side chain, is designed to be lipophilic and inert toward 24-hydroxylase enzyme catabolism. Each hybrid analog with 1. beta. ,3. alpha. -substituent stereochemistry shows a pharmacologically desirable combination of high antiproliferative and high transcriptional activities in vitro and also low calcemic activity in vivo.

Apparatus And Method For Reverse Link Transmission In An Access Terminal

Apparatus And Method For Reverse Link Transmission In An Access Terminal

US Patent:
8266490, Sep 11, 2012
Filed:
Apr 8, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/420654
Inventors:
Su-Lin Low - San Diego CA, US
Jae Sun Lee - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
VIA Telecom, Inc. - San Diego CA
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
US Classification:
714749, 714748, 714746
Abstract:
A method for providing improved reverse link transmission timing in an access terminal is provided. The method includes processing automatic repeat request (ARQ) bits from a MAC bit processing unit for a previous sub-frame. The ARQ bits comprise a hybrid ARQ (H-ARQ) bit, a last ARQ (L-ARQ) bit, and a packet ARQ (P-ARQ) bit. The method also includes calculating the maximum allowed reverse rate and grant size for a MAC flow. The method further includes distributing grants to each application in the MAC flow. The method also includes storing a stored read pointer in an application transmit queue, for each application in the MAC flow. The method also includes preparing data for transmission, in response to storing the stored read pointer for each application in the MAC flow, based on the ARQ bits. The method also includes transmitting the data.

Quality Of Service Control Of Reverse Traffic Channel For A Mobile Communication Device

Quality Of Service Control Of Reverse Traffic Channel For A Mobile Communication Device

US Patent:
8228817, Jul 24, 2012
Filed:
Apr 6, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/754684
Inventors:
Jae Sun Lee - San Diego CA, US
Su-Lin Low - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
Via Telecom, Inc. - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04L 12/26, G08C 25/02, H04W 24/00
US Classification:
370252, 714748, 455423
Abstract:
A mobile communication device for providing QoS of packet transmission is provided. The packet transmission from and to the mobile communication device is performed by repeating a predetermined number of interlaces by a predetermined cycle. In the mobile communication device, a wireless module transmits a first sub-packet of a first packet and a first sub-packet of a second packet to a mobile communication network, and receives a response message corresponding to the first sub-packet of the first packet from the mobile communication network, wherein the first sub-packet of the first packet is transmitted in a first interlace prior to a second interlace in which the first sub-packet of the second packet is transmitted. Also, a controller module calculates a plurality of QoS parameters for a second sub-packet of the second packet in response to the response message, prepares the second sub-packet of the second packet with the QoS parameters, and transmits the second sub-packet of the second packet in the second interlace to the mobile communication network via the wireless module.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and pharmaceutical compositions for treating obesity or obesity-related disorders in a subject suffering from or predisposed to developing obesity or an obesity-related disorder, or for inhibiting the infectivity of HIV, by administering oleuropein, an analogue or derivative thereof, or the major metabolites of oleuropein including oleuropein aglycone, hydroxytyrosol, and elenolic acid or their analogues, or derivatives thereof, an iridoid glycoside, or a secoiridoid glycoside or analogues or derivatives thereof, or any combination of the foregoing including olive leave extract. The invention also relates to methods for screening/diagnosing a subject having, or predisposed to having obesity or a related disorder by measuring the expression profiles of an adipogenic gene selected from PPARγ2, LPL and αP2 gene and gene product, or other adipogenic, lipogenic, or lipolytic genes and gene products in an individual. The invention further provides for screening for novel oleuropein analogues.
