National Diversity, Kaiser Permanente presented the 2009 Kaiser Permanente HIV/AIDS Diversity Awarded to two organizations and one individual, Jacki Gethner, during the 32nd Annual National Diversity Conference in San Francisco, California. The Kaiser Permanente HIV/AIDS Diversity Awards are presented to external individuals and organizations that work to reduce and eliminate disparities in HIV incidence and care in KP regions and include a $10,000 grant. KP Regions are Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Northern and Southern California, Ohio, Northwest (Oregon and Washington) and the Mid-Atlantic States (Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.). As the second largest provider of HIV care in the United States (Kaiser Permanente and Group Health Cooperative collectively), Kaiser Permanente is committed to addressing health disparities in HIV/AIDS incidence and care in the United States.

As the founder of the Women Of A Certain Age project, Jacki Gethner was the July 2012 winner of the Ideas For Good Contest through Encore.org, an organization that provides pathways for individuals in the second half of life to start projects that make a difference in the world. Five winners each month (from April to October) receive a $5,000 grant toward their project, one grand prize winner each month will receive an educational or service-learning adventure via Road Scholar. The submissions are judged against the following criteria: Is the idea feasible and would a $5,000 prize significantly help to implement the idea? Does the idea focus on an important issue that fits within the stated criteria for the Contest? Does the Entrant demonstrate passion for the idea? Does the idea provide a compelling conversation starter for the online community? If executed with the idea likely make a significant impact on the people in the applicable community?
