Philosophy:
Dr. Austin likens his work to that of a medical detective. He examines complex cases, looking for clues to identify the culprit and solve the problem. He enjoys the challenge of piecing together difficult puzzles and delivering solutions. After earning his MD at the Medical College of Georgia in 1976, Dr. Austin continued his education at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he completed his Internal Medicine internship, residency and fellowship, finishing in 1981. He has practiced in Infectious Diseases for over 30 years and in 2009 was appointed Director of Infusion Services at Walton Rehabilitation Health System in Augusta, GA. He likes hands on treatment of his patients and takes a very personal approach to patient care.
