The Junior Literary Guild, The Bank Street College for Children, Sesame Street Magazine,The International Reading Association and in 2008 Book Expo America’s African American Pavilion named its children’s book award, The Irene Smalls Children’s Book Award”. My books have been featured in: The New York Times, Newsweek, People Magazine, Essence Magazine, Black Enterprise Magazine, Ebony Magazine, Jet Magazine, Publisher’s Weekly, The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Teaching K-8 Magazine, Boston Sunday Globe Magazine, NYU Stern Business Review, and The Boston Herald.
