Veno-Merse / Harvester Device

US Patent:
2013015, Jun 20, 2013
Filed:
Dec 19, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/329590
Inventors:
Heshmat Majlessi - Rye NY, US
International Classification:
A61B 1/018, A61B 17/22, A61B 1/04
US Classification:
600104, 606159
Abstract:
A veno-merse/harvester device having a handle portion, a hollow shaft portion, and a cutting portion. A fixed cannula system incorporated in the device improves the hydrostatic pressure, which allows efficient hydro-dissection with less retrograde leak of tumescent fluid and facilitates the separation of the vein from surrounding tissues with less bleeding. The veno-merse/harvester device may incorporate a camera system to allow direct visualization of the side branches to be ligated during a procedure. The self-adjustable cutting tip facilitates the forward advancement of the veno-merse/harvester device safely over a dilated portion of a vein.

US Patent:
7163547, Jan 16, 2007
Filed:
Apr 23, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/359607
Inventors:
Heshmat Majlessi - Rye NY, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/22
US Classification:
606159
Abstract:
A device is disclosed to remove veins from the body. These can be unwanted varicose veins or healthy veins of the arms and legs used for bypasses or fistula formation. This device has a handle for the purpose of rotation and advancement of the instrument. This handle is attached to an elongated semi rigid shaft of various lengths. At the remote end of this shaft is the tip of the instrument comprised of a cylindrical shape device with an outward angle of various degrees. This tip is advanced with rotational move around the vein to separate the vein from surrounding tissue and also to cut the tributaries without damaging the wall of the vein. The shaft can be hollow to allow insertion of a long needle for the purpose of injection and local anesthesia.

Percutaneous Excisional Biopsy Device

US Patent:
5871454, Feb 16, 1999
Filed:
Apr 22, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/841452
Inventors:
Heshmat Majlessi - Rye NY
International Classification:
A61B 1000
US Classification:
600564
Abstract:
An elongate outer sleeve is mounted on a support and defines an axis and distal and proximate ends in relation to said support. An elongate inner tube is generally coaxial with and contained within said outer sleeve. A drive selectively rotates the inner tube about the axis relative to the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve is mounted for selected movement along the axis relative to the inner tube between a first position in which the remote end of the inner tube in contained within and covered by the outer sleeve and a second position in which the remote end of the inner tube is exposed, the inner tube being provided at the remote end with a cutting assembly consisting of a plurality of blade elements radially spaced about the axis and biassed to urge the blade elements to expand outwardly into their normal operative cutting positions when moved exteriorly of the remote end of the outer sleeve, adjacent blade elements being collapsible for containment within the outer sleeve and forming laterally-directed opening which communicate with a channel within the inner tube. Carrier fluid is dispensed at the remote end of the outer sleeve. A receptacle is provided for collecting tissue excised by the expanded blades carried through the inner tube from the remote to the proximate ends by the carrier fluid.

Retractable Electro-Suction Device

US Patent:
5360427, Nov 1, 1994
Filed:
Dec 18, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/999693
Inventors:
Heshmat Majlessi - Rye NY
International Classification:
A61B 1739
US Classification:
606 41
Abstract:
An electro cautery device for attachment to a suction pump and to a source of electric current includes a tubular member one end of which is connectable to the suction pump and the other end is insertable into the cavity of a human torso. A retractable cautery element is mounted on the end insertable into the torso and connectable to a source of electric current. The cautery element is movable between a retracted position which prevents it from being exposed to tissue and an extended position used during cauterization. A button on the tubular member moves the cautery element from the retracted to the extended positions when depressed, simultaneously connecting the cautery element to the source of the electric current.

Colonic Irrigation Tube

US Patent:
4842583, Jun 27, 1989
Filed:
Dec 23, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/136948
Inventors:
Heshmat Majlessi - Rye NY
International Classification:
A61M 300
US Classification:
604 43
Abstract:
A colon irrigation device includes a tube flexible material with a second tube of smaller dimensions running along the inside surface of the larger external tube. Outlet apertures are provided for releasing irrigation fluid first through the inner tube or conduit, and inlet apertures are provided on the larger outer tube for receiving the irrigation fluid at a distal end of the colon. An enlarged end of the outer tube facilitates gripping of the tube once inserted into the colon so that it can be brought to the area to be irrigated. In the alternative, an inflatable bladder or balloon is provided which supplied with compressed air through a third tube running along the inside surface of the larger outer tube which can be inflated once the device is inserted into the colon and inflated to facilitate the gripping.
