Henry Pollak - Pottstown PA
Assignee:
American Machine & Tool Company, Inc. - Royersford PA
International Classification:
B23B 4700, B23Q 104
US Classification:
408 90
Abstract:
A machine tool apparatus having a work piece support table supported by an articulating arm. The machine tool apparatus includes a stand and a motor mounted to the stand. A movable cutting tool holder is provided and a transmission mechanism is drivingly coupled between the motor and the cutting tool holder on the stand. The apparatus also includes a work piece support table and a table positioning support movably coupled to the stand. Part of the table positioning support projects outwardly from the stand. The apparatus further includes an arm having first and second ends. The first end of the arm is pivotably coupled with the projecting part of the table positioning support. The second end of the arm is rotatably coupled with the work piece support table.

Anti-Kickback Device

US Patent:
5083759, Jan 28, 1992
Filed:
Jan 24, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/469618
Inventors:
Henry Pollak - Pottstown PA
Gordon V. Wells - Spring City PA
Assignee:
American Machine & Tool Co. - Royersford PA
International Classification:
B23Q 302
US Classification:
269134
Abstract:
An apparatus for inhibiting movement of a workpiece comprises a bed, a pair of opposed vise jaws associated with and extending from the bed, each of the jaws having a gripping surface and at least one of the jaws being movable for gripping and releasing the workpiece positioned between the jaws, and a movable projection member rotatably disposed in a recess in the gripping surface of one of the jaws, where the projection member is extendable outwardly in a direction generally transverse to the gripping surface between the pair of jaws for being positioned above the workpiece when the workpiece is positioned between the jaws without exerting a substantial force on the workpiece to inhibit fly-away movement of the workpiece. In addition, a method for inhibiting fly-away movement of a workpiece using the apparatus of the present invention comprises placing the workpiece on the bed between the jaws, moving the movable jaw to a position to grip the workpiece between the gripping surfaces of the jaws and positioning the projection member to a position above the workpiece without exerting a substantial force on the workpiece.

Oscillatory Motion Device For Drill Press

US Patent:
5769575, Jun 23, 1998
Filed:
May 29, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/654426
Inventors:
Todd Laverne Stofflet - Pottstown PA
Henry Martin Pollak - Pottstown PA
Douglas Allen Bowman - Pottstown PA
Assignee:
American Machine & Tool Company, Inc. - Royersford PA
International Classification:
B23B 3900
US Classification:
408 17
Abstract:
A drill press has a drive motor with output shaft that drives a chuck through a rotatable and vertically displaceable quill and a first drive coupling which includes a pair of pulleys, such as cone pulleys, and a belt extended between the cone pulleys. A rotary power take-off in the form of an additional pair of pulleys and a drive belt extracts rotary power from the drive coupling between the motor and the chuck and transfers it to an oscillatory motion device. The device includes a worm and worm gear and an eccentrically mounted arm which convert rotary motion from the rotary power take-off into a reciprocating linear motion. A lever is pivotally mounted to the device with one end engaged with the quill and a remaining, opposing end coupled with the arm. Reciprocation of the arm causes reciprocation of the lever which causes reciprocation of the quill, chuck and any tool held in the chuck. The arm is releasably engaged with and is coupled with the lever through a detent block.

Self-Priming Centrifugal Pump

US Patent:
4355950, Oct 26, 1982
Filed:
May 27, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/153500
Inventors:
Henry M. Pollak - Pottstown PA
International Classification:
F04D 902
US Classification:
415 53R
Abstract:
A centrifugal pump having a discharge at its upper end is self-primed under the combined effect of gravity and suction. The suction is created by a discontinuity of flow in the pumping chamber at a recirculation passage. The passage is sufficiently large so that it deaerates priming liquid while providing sufficient liquid to prevent a short circuit of gas from the outlet to the inlet.

Miter Gauge With Adjustable Width Lead Arm

US Patent:
5097601, Mar 24, 1992
Filed:
Aug 13, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/566943
Inventors:
Henry Pollak - Pottstown PA
Edwin N. Hartz - Pottstown PA
Assignee:
American Machine & Tool Company, Inc. - Royersford PA
International Classification:
B26D 706
US Classification:
33471
Abstract:
An improved miter gauge includes a gauge body and a lead arm pivotally coupled together. The lead arm is provided by a substantially rigid member which includes a plurality of slots formed in a length direction of the member which define adjoining side wall portions of the rigid member. A plurality of threaded bores are provided, each through one of the side wall portions, in communciation with one of the slots. A plurality of set screws are provided in the threaded bores and are adjustable to project out of the rigid member or to span the slot and contact the opposing side wall portions of the member so that overall width of the rigid member of the miter gauge can be adjusted to fit the width of a guiding slot on a piece of power equipment.

Scroll Saw Blade Holder

US Patent:
5058280, Oct 22, 1991
Filed:
Aug 13, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/566599
Inventors:
Henry Pollak - Pottstown PA
Gordon V. Wells - Spring City PA
Assignee:
American Machine & Tool Company, Inc. - Royersford PA
International Classification:
B23D 4904, B27B 310
US Classification:
30392
Abstract:
An improved scroll saw blade holder includes a one-piece body having a base and a pair of arms which extend transversely from the base and define an open area therebetween. A slot is provided in the base extending entirely through the base into the open area and extending only partially through the base in a direction generally perpendicular to a plane of the body so that the body remains integral in the base at the slot. A clip is provided on the body and includes a positioning plate which is received in the slot. The positioning plate is located adjoining a set screw in a threaded bore extending from the slot to one side of the body. A portion of a scroll saw blade is received and clamped in the slot between the positioning plate and a side of the slot opposite the threaded bore with the set screw. Scroll saw blades with or without mounting pins may be accommodated.
