Urethral Catheter And Urinary Drainage Bag Adaptor For Prevention Of Nosocomial Urinary Tract Infection

Urethral Catheter And Urinary Drainage Bag Adaptor For Prevention Of Nosocomial Urinary Tract Infection

US Patent:
6368317, Apr 9, 2002
Filed:
Aug 13, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/134413
Inventors:
Hau Hsien Chang - Bakersfield CA 93301
International Classification:
A61M 2700
US Classification:
604544, 222133, 2221455, 222444, 604317, 604327, 141105
Abstract:
An urethral catheter and urinary drainage bag adaptor which includes a substantially cylindrical segment telescoping over a smaller diameter but longer substantially cylindrical segment. Both ends of the longer segment are open and both ends of the shorter segment are closed. Each segment also has a wall and a lumen. The longer segment includes a first portion, a shorter second portion and a substantially spherical-shaped third portion located between the other two portions. A storage chamber for antiseptics is defined by a closed space between the two segments and communicates with the lumen of the longer segment through at least one fenestration located on a wall of the third portion. The longer segment is a conduit for body fluid. A rotary valve is located in the third portion for controlling drainage of body fluids and collecting antiseptics from the chamber. The device allows draining body fluid to mix with a small aliquot of antiseptic collected from the chamber by a rotary valve to prevent ascending infection of the urinary tract without fluxing of the antiseptic into the body.

Urethral Catheter Holder

Urethral Catheter Holder

US Patent:
5368575, Nov 29, 1994
Filed:
Dec 6, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/162229
Inventors:
Hau H. Chang - Bakersfield CA
International Classification:
A61M 532
US Classification:
604174
Abstract:
An Urethral Catheter Holder is a device that has two semicylindric elements hinged with each other by a flexible living hinge on one edge. It has a single non adjustable male and female locking tooth on the other edges opposite to the living hinge. It has a semicylindric rim extension at one end of the device that extends to a diameter larger than said semicylindrical segment. There is a wedge defect at the living hinge side of the rim extension. The defect of the rim extension is covered by the curve extension cover. There is a compressible foam pad lining the surface of the semicylindric element and rim extension. The foam pad on the rim extension is impregnated with antimicrobial agent. When the device is placed in operative position, it forms a lumen inner to the foam pads able to hold and affix the Foley catheter without compromising and distorting the lumen of the catheter and the balloon inflation and deflation tube. It also provides a semi closed housing space for the male external urethral meatus and allows contact between the antimicrobial ointment and said urethral meatus.

US Patent:
5593389, Jan 14, 1997
Filed:
May 25, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/452663
Inventors:
Hau H. Chang - Bakersfield CA
International Classification:
A61M 532
US Classification:
604174
Abstract:
Urethral catheter holder with anchoring device is a device that has two semicylindric elements connected together by a flexible living hinge on one edge and a single non adjustable male and female locking tooth on the other edge opposite to the living hinge. It has two semi-cylindrical rim extensions at one end of the device that extend to a diameter larger than said semicylindric elements. There is a compressible foam pad lining the inner surface of the semicylindric elements. The rim extension for male use is taller than that for female use and is lined with a layer of foam pad impregnated with antimicrobial agent. Each of the foam pad on the rim extension in the female use device is made half of a doughnut shape and is impregnated with antimicrobial agent. There is a wedge defect on the rim extension at the living hinge side and is covered by a curve extension. In a male use device, there is(are) a single or double telescoping condom(s) with both ends opened and a slit on one side of the condom(s).

Urethral Stump Carrier For Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy

Urethral Stump Carrier For Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy

US Patent:
5713889, Feb 3, 1998
Filed:
Jun 20, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/261821
Inventors:
Hau Hsien Chang - Bakersfield CA
International Classification:
A61B 1900
US Classification:
606 1
Abstract:
A smooth blunt tip tubular structure in a form of a sound or a catheter and a pressure producing and regulating system. The sound or the catheter has a smooth blunt end on one end and a non blunted end on the opposite end. There is a lumen extending from one end to the opposite end. There is a furrow running circumferentially around the blunt end of the sound or the catheter. The furrow lies on the side wall within two centimer from the blunt end tip of the sound or the catheter. There are multiple openings on the floor of the furrow. The openings within the furrow communicate with the lumen of the sound or the catheter. The pressure producing end regulating system is in fluid communication with the lumen. The side walls of the furrow elevate above the surface of the sound or the catheter forming ridges. There are six grooves equally distanced from each other between the furrow and the tip of the sound or the catheter.

Occlusion Ureteral Catheter For Retrograde Pyelography

Occlusion Ureteral Catheter For Retrograde Pyelography

US Patent:
5383866, Jan 24, 1995
Filed:
Sep 15, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/120796
Inventors:
Hau H. Chang - Bakersfield CA
International Classification:
A61M 2500
US Classification:
604280
Abstract:
The occlusion ureteral catheter for retrograde pyelography with a compression plate is a long slender catheter made of polyurethane radio opaque or any equivalent material. It has a central lumen which opens to both ends of the catheter. The catheter has three parts: the tip or head of the catheter, compression plate and the stem of the catheter. There are structural variations on the tip of the catheter and compression plate. The tip of catheter has various shapes (whistle tip shape, cone or cobra head shape, olive tip shape and filiform shape), curvatures and sizes. The compression plate has various shapes (oval, circular, triangular) sizes and angulations. The compression plate is fixed and an integral part of the stem of the ureteral catheter. The occlusion ureteral catheter for retrograde pyelography comprises of a serial of catheters with structural variation at the tip and the compression plate. The occlusion ureteral catheter for retrograde pyelography is manufactured to adapt to conventional cystoscopic or flexible endoscopic instructions.
