Petroleum Products From Oil Shale

US Patent:
2010028, Nov 11, 2010
Filed:
Oct 10, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/734141
Inventors:
Harry John Gatley - Holladay UT, US
Roger Lee Peterson - North Ogden UT, US
International Classification:
C10B 53/06
US Classification:
208407, 196 46, 208427
Abstract:
A system for producing petroleum products () from oil shale () includes a kiln line () of plural series-connected, substantially horizontally-disposed kilns (). Crushed oil shale () is advanced through kilns () in succession and exhausted from the kiln line () substantially freed of hydrocarbons. A heat extraction unit () recovers heat () from hot spent shale (). Successive kilns () along the advancement of crushed oil shale () are maintained at successively higher temperatures (T,T,T,T,T). Pyrolysis is indirectly-driven using kiln-surrounding roasting jackets (), A fuel distinct from hydrocarbons in oil shale (), such as natural gas (), syngas () from a gasifier (), or hydrogen gas () from a separator () provides heat. These combustible gasses are burned in roasting jackets () or converted by a burner () into hot flue gas () that passes through roasting jackets (). A heated sweep gas () entrains hydrocarbon vapors (). An acoustic agitator () suppresses clumping of crushed oil shale () A refining unit () proximate the kiln line () upgrades into petroleum products () extracted hydrocarbons in vapor () or liquid () states.

Method And Apparatus Accelerate Gases Peripherally

US Patent:
2013028, Oct 31, 2013
Filed:
Jul 24, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/557017
Inventors:
Harry John Gatley - Holladay UT, US
International Classification:
B65G 51/02
US Classification:
406191
Abstract:
The present invention took the inventor 15 years to develop, it was inspired by the possibility he saw of accelerating gases peripherally along the inside of cylindrical hollow tubes, ducts and pipe He took the rocket nozzle type of venturi and formed it in annular and rectangular shapes. The inventor applied his knowledge of supersonic and hypersonic fluid mechanics to industrial process conditions.
