The method of diagnosis includes analyzing a tissue specimen from a patient diagnosed with a disease. The tissue specimen can be a tumor cell related to the diagnosed disease of the patient. The tissue specimen is analyzed for the presence of spp. DNA or its components. One such analysis includes fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH). Once the presence of spp. DNA and/or its components is detected, the patient may be treated with a host of treatments including antibiotic therapy, molecular signal therapy, vaccination, interference with receptor systems mediating spp. invasion into tissues, and use of small-interfering RNA sequences to specifically block virulence or replication of spp. These treatments are administered for a duration to eradicate the spp. in the tissues of the patient. A test kit is also provided for quickly determining the presence of unspecified spp. DNA in a tissue specimen of a patient.
