Plantar Fascia Support Apparatus

US Patent:
6886276, May 3, 2005
Filed:
Dec 20, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/326357
Inventors:
Harry H. Hlavac - Mill Valley CA, US
International Classification:
A43B007/18
US Classification:
36166, 36170, 36173, 36174, 2240, 602 66
Abstract:
A support apparatus for supporting the plantar fascia of a foot. The support apparatus is made of an elastic material expandable in the width and longitudinal axis of the foot. When in operative position on the foot, the apparatus frictionally remains in place mid the first metatarsal bone and extends behind the heel of the foot above its os calcis bone such that when the foot is caused to bear weight, the apparatus expands along the longitudinal axis of the foot to its limit of expandability such that the arch of the foot is maintained substantially unchanged as the foot alternates between load bearing and non-load bearing orientations.

Footwear Device

US Patent:
4137654, Feb 6, 1979
Filed:
Feb 7, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/766039
Inventors:
Harry F. Hlavac - Mill Valley CA
Assignee:
Sports Safety, Inc. - Mill Valley CA
International Classification:
A43B 504, A43B 2308, A43B 2136
US Classification:
36119
Abstract:
A device for use in footwear to correct and prevent problems associated with the human foot. The device includes upstanding side and rear walls which are integrally joined with a lower wedge to form a heel cup that closely fits with and supports the heel bone with respect to vertical. An upper planar surface of the wedge inclines at a predetermined lateral angle for controlling contact position and movement of the heel bone during locomotion. A support anchor projects forwardly from the wedge and terminates in a pointed distal end which is located toward the medial side of the foot.
