As a Naturopathic Physician, I am committed to first do no harm, and rely on non-invasive treatments to minimize the risks of harmful side-effects. As the underlying cause of illness is often found in aspects of lifestyle or diet, it is often necessary to identify and remove the cause for healing to occur. Nature acts powerfully through healing mechanisms in the body and mind to maintain and restore health, and I strive to work in harmony with the healing powers of nature. Health or disease comes from complex interactions of physical, emotional, genetic and environmental factors, requiring me to treat the whole person. With the physician as teacher, my patients learn principles which promote health and prevent the recurrence or progress of disease. With education and support, my patients can participate in preventing minor illness from developing into more serious or chronic diseases and work toward optimal health. Prior to the study of medicine I served on the public health faculty of Southern Connecticut State University where I taught Women’s Health, Death and Dying, Human Sexuality, and the Annual International Field Studies in Public Health. I also served as Patient Educator for the Department of Obstetrics at Yale-New Haven Medical Center where I taught Nutrition for Pregnancy, Prepared Childbirth as well as Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC). I am an accomplished writer and have published numerous articles in the field of women’s health, nutrition, mind-body medicine, death and dying. I am also a frequent and sought after lecturer and teacher on wellness, nutrition and wide array of health related topics.
