Oscillating Cutting Element

US Patent:
4518022, May 21, 1985
Filed:
Sep 29, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/427837
Inventors:
Guillermo A. Valdes - Miami FL
Benjamin G. Pacheco - Hialeah FL
Fernando F. Figueredo - Key Biscayne FL
Armando Framil - Miami FL
International Classification:
B27B 2100
US Classification:
30166R
Abstract:
A flexible cutting element composed of a plurality of chain links to which are attached tubular cutting units each of which is fabricated with a plurality of cutting teeth protruding upward and disposed at intervals extending radially around the periphery of the cutting unit. The direction of cutting of said cutting teeth are disposed alternately in opposite directions to enable said cutting element to cut a selected material when an oscillating motion is imparted. Various cutting unit designs are presented.

Landing Gear Drive System

US Patent:
4659039, Apr 21, 1987
Filed:
Jul 29, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/759696
Inventors:
Guillermo A. Valdes - Miami FL
International Classification:
B64C 2540
US Classification:
2441035
Abstract:
A drive motor system is coupled to the landing gear wheels of an air craft via a free wheeling clutch assembly. The drive motor system is energized when the landing gear is extended preparatory for landing either manually or automatically. The drive motor system is controlled to rotate the wheels to have the linear velocity of the periphery of a wheel the same as the ground speed of the aircraft at touchdown. A touchdown sensor stops the drive motor system at touchdown causing the clutch assembly to disengage the wheels when the rpm of the wheel is greater than the drive system rpm. An automatic control system is described.

Cutting Device Having A Flexible Cutting Element

US Patent:
4258763, Mar 31, 1981
Filed:
Nov 20, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/962289
Inventors:
Fernando Figueredo - Key Biscayne FL
Guillermo A. Valdes - Miami FL
Armando R. Framil - Key Biscayne FL
International Classification:
A01G 2308
US Classification:
144 34R
Abstract:
A plurality of cutting teeth are disposed at intervals in a complete circle around the periphery of a flexible cutting element. A frame is coupled to the cutting element to receive and guide the cutting element. Means is coupled to the cutting element and to the frame to impart an oscillatory motion to the cutting element to enable the oscillating teeth of the cutting element to cut a selected material. A simplified version of the present invention includes first and second handles coupled to opposite ends of the flexible cutting element to enable an operator to impart an oscillatory motion to the cutting element.

Oscillating Cutting Apparatus

US Patent:
4501310, Feb 26, 1985
Filed:
Sep 29, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/427836
Inventors:
Guillermo A. Valdes - Miami FL
Fernando F. Figueredo - Key Biscayne FL
Benjamin G. Pacheco - Hialeah FL
Armando Framil - Miami FL
International Classification:
A01G 2308
US Classification:
144 34R
Abstract:
A cutting apparatus designed to produce an oscillating force which is transmitted to a cutting element, said cutting element having a plurality of cutting teeth disposed at intervals in a complete circle around the periphery of the cutting element. The direction of cutting of the cutting teeth of said cutting element is alternated in opposite directions so that when to the cutting element is applied an oscillatory force, half of the cutting teeth will cut in one direction and the other half in the opposite direction. Thus the cutting apparatus disclosed herein is designed to work with any oscillating flexible cutting element of the type described above.
