Appl. No.:
13/245225
Inventors:
Thomas A. Burdsall - Hunterville NC, US
Chris S. Leyden - Cornelius NC, US
Gregory David Parker - Charlotte NC, US
Jeffrey P. Stark - Davidson NC, US
International Classification:
F23D 14/40, F23Q 7/12, F23D 14/54
US Classification:
2395811, 431345, 239526, 431254
Abstract:
A torch assembly having features enabling single handed operation. The torch assembly includes a flame control device that can be operated with a user's fingers while the user is holding the torch with the same hand. A controller apparatus of the torch assembly includes a trigger for actuating an on/off valve adapted to permit or stop flow through a fuel line, a regulator adapted to at least partially restrict flow in the fuel line and including a regulator valve, and a controller operatively connected to the regulator to adjust the position of the valve to vary the flow of fuel through the fuel line. The controller is interposed between the trigger and the regulator, and can include a rotatably mounted knob.

High Pressure Sensor With Separate Pressure Port And Housing And Method For Making The Same

US Patent:
6742397, Jun 1, 2004
Filed:
May 29, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/156095
Inventors:
Gregory D. Parker - Charlotte NC
Assignee:
Invensys Sensor Systems - Shelby NC
International Classification:
G01L 700
US Classification:
73756, 73715, 73727, 277300
Abstract:
A high pressure sensor is provided with a single-piece pressure port machined from stainless steel and has no internal gaskets or seals. A housing surrounds the pressure port along a portion of its axial length. The housing and pressure port have mating configurations that prevent axial rotation when the pressure port is inserted into the assembled position in the housing. A retaining ring locks the pressure port axially with respect to the housing and is fixed in place by a fixative, such as epoxy.

Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Using Absolute Micromachined Pressure Sense Die

US Patent:
7073375, Jul 11, 2006
Filed:
Aug 23, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/924680
Inventors:
Gregory D. Parker - Charlotte NC, US
Philip J. Marcus - Casar NC, US
Tuyen V. Pham - Shelby NC, US
Travis D. Wesley - Shelby NC, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G01M 19/00
US Classification:
731181, 73706, 73715
Abstract:
Sensor systems and methods are disclosed, which generally incorporate isolation between the sensor's electronics and the sensed media. The sensor's electronic circuit can incorporate one or more application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) that processes and outputs the signal for both absolute and differential measurements. Such a sensor can be adapted for use in exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR) systems utilized with automotive gasoline engines. Such a sensor can also be utilized for measuring differential pressure across diesel particular filters and/or applications in which differential pressure is required for system control and/or monitoring purposes. The absolute pressure sensor disclosed herein can therefore sense the exhaust pressure on automotive engines and other mechanical and/or electromechanical devices and machines.

Pressure Sensor With Single Deposit Adhesive

US Patent:
7086290, Aug 8, 2006
Filed:
Dec 9, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/008549
Inventors:
Gregory D. Parker - Charlotte NC, US
Allen R. Clapper - Shelby NC, US
Tuyen V. Pham - Shelby NC, US
Gerald A. Stark - Shelby NC, US
Michael P. Goodson - Shelby NC, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G01F 9/00
US Classification:
73754
Abstract:
Pressure sensor methods and systems are disclosed. In general, two micromachined die and a diaphragm for a pressure sensor can be provided. The two micromachined die can be embedded in a glass adhesive on a surface of the diaphragm, such that the glass adhesive possesses a large size relative to the two micromachined die. The large size of the glass adhesive creates a large planar target for placement of the two micromachined die upon the diaphragm, thereby providing a size difference between the glass adhesive and the two micromachined die thereby creates an optimum strain transfer, while maintaining stability for the pressure sensor.

Absolute Micromachined Silicon Pressure Sensor With Backside Hermetic Cover And Method Of Making The Same

US Patent:
2003016, Sep 11, 2003
Filed:
Jan 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/354160
Inventors:
Gregory Parker - Charlotte NC, US
International Classification:
G01L009/04
US Classification:
073/720000, 073/726000
Abstract:
An absolute micromachined silicon pressure sensor provides the resistive or piezoresistive strain gauges, conductive traces, wirebond pads and other electrical components on a micromachined silicon die in a location that is isolated from the sensed fluid. This protects the electronic components from the corrosive effects of the sensed fluid. A hermetic cover is provided on the backside of the silicon die and is directly bonded thereto to create a hermetically sealed volume of gas or vacuum.

Differential Pressure Measurement Using Backside Sensing And A Single Asic

US Patent:
7077008, Jul 18, 2006
Filed:
Aug 23, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/924598
Inventors:
Tuyen V. Pham - Shelby NC, US
Gregory D. Parker - Charlotte NC, US
Phillip I. Lane - Cherryville NC, US
Richard A. Wade - Shelby NC, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G01L 13/02
US Classification:
73716
Abstract:
Differential pressure sensor systems and methods are disclosed, including an absolute pressure sensor composed of a plurality of pressure sense die for detecting sensed media, wherein each of the pressure sense die possess a back side and a front side and are respectively associated with a plurality of varying pressures. The sensed media are applied only at the backside of the pressure sense die, thereby preventing wire bonds and active regions associated with the front side of the pressure sense die from exposure to sensed media and attack from acids and abrasive chemicals associated with the sensed media.
