Ultra High Speed Data Collection, Processing And Distribution Ring With Parallel Data Paths Between Nodes

US Patent:
5502817, Mar 26, 1996
Filed:
Apr 2, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/042273
Inventors:
Norris Krone - Annandale VA
Roger Pierson - Castleton VA
Glenn Connor - Laurel MD
Virgil Davis - Fulton MD
Assignee:
University Research Foundation, Inc. - Greenbelt MD
International Classification:
G06F 1338, H04J 302
US Classification:
39520016
Abstract:
A high speed data collection processing and distribution system for coupling a plurality of digital data sources to a plurality of digital data processors. The system includes a plurality of segmented parallel data paths and a plurality of nodes connecting said parallel data paths in an endless ring. Each node includes an input connector for connecting the end of one of said segments of parallel data paths on a one-for-one basis; a data multiplexer, a plurality of node parallel data paths in the node corresponding to the segmented parallel data paths, respectively, connected to the input connector and the data multiplexer such that data input to the multiplexer corresponds to respective ones of the segmented parallel data paths. A processor is coupled to said node parallel data paths, and as a second input to the multiplexer a common source of clock and slot signals is independently connected to said control processor in each node, respectively, for controlling the timing thereof. Each node also includes transmit and receive FIFO buffer memories, address, exclusive source and pattern match circuits and a local clock distribution circuit.

Low Visibility Landing System And Method

US Patent:
8374737, Feb 12, 2013
Filed:
Sep 23, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/243698
Inventors:
Robert S. Takacs - Richmond Hill GA, US
Gary M. Freeman - Savannah GA, US
Glenn L. Connor - Laurel MD, US
Assignee:
Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation - Savannah GA
International Classification:
G06F 19/00
US Classification:
701 17, 700 3, 700 4, 700 9, 700 11, 700 14, 700 16, 700120, 700200, 700207, 700208, 340961, 340960, 340970, 340980, 342 33, 342 35, 342 36, 342 38, 342 58, 244189, 73178 H
Abstract:
A low visibility landing system is provided for guiding aircraft on landing approaches. The low visibility landing system may aid a pilot during landing in low visibility conditions such that an aircraft may descend to lower altitudes without visual contact with the runway than is possible with other landing systems. The system may use various navigational systems to produce a hybrid signal that may be more stable than individual signals of those navigational systems. The hybrid signal is compared to a predetermined landing approach plan to determine the deviation of the aircraft from the landing approach plan and to provide guidance to the pilot to get the aircraft back onto the landing approach plan. The system may also use multiple navigational systems to perform checks on an operation of a primary navigational system to ensure that the primary navigational system is operating accurately.

Aircraft Vision System Including A Runway Position Indicator

US Patent:
8589071, Nov 19, 2013
Filed:
Aug 15, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/210171
Inventors:
Thea L. Feyereisen - Hudson WI, US
Ivan Sandy Wyatt - Scottsdale AZ, US
Gang He - Morristown NJ, US
Glenn Connor - Laurel MD, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G01C 21/00, G01C 23/00
US Classification:
701457, 701 14, 701 16, 701436, 701455, 340972, 340973, 340976
Abstract:
A runway indicator is displayed overlying a target runway for providing supplementary guidance to support the pilot's ability to fly a stabilized approach. The highlighted runway position indicator provides cues to verify that the aircraft is continuously in a position to complete a normal landing using normal maneuvering during the instrument segment of an approach and includes a landing threshold, a landing zone on the runway, an approach line leading to the runway, an outline highlighting the sides and ends of the runway, a rectangle larger than and surrounding the runway, and a visual precision path approach indicator.
