Shielding For Structural Support Elements

US Patent:
7849780, Dec 14, 2010
Filed:
Mar 17, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/381866
Inventors:
Gerald Hallissy - Port Washington NY, US
William Higbie - Bay Shore NY, US
International Classification:
F41H 5/24
US Classification:
89 3604, 89 3601, 52319
Abstract:
A shield for shielding a structural member from an explosive blast or accidental or malicious destruction is provided. The shield includes a plurality of shield members which include cast ultra high strength concrete, wherein the shield members are capable of being assembled to enclose at least a portion of the structural member to provide protection to the enclosed portion from, for example, an explosive blast. In one embodiment, the shield members include a chassis, at least one ballistic liner disposed on the energy absorbing layer, and a concrete-integrating structure.

Flexible, Insulative Fire Protective Coatings And Conduits, Utilitarian Components, And Structural Materials Coated Therewith

US Patent:
2004005, Mar 18, 2004
Filed:
Sep 13, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/243632
Inventors:
Gerald Hallissy - Port Washington NY, US
William Higbie - Calverton NY, US
Anthony Camarota - Hudson MA, US
John Rowen - Hudson MA, US
International Classification:
C08J009/32, C09K021/14
US Classification:
523/219000
Abstract:
Aqueous coating compositions containing a film-forming polymer, at least one flame retardant or smoke suppressant, glass or ceramic microballoons, and expandable flake graphite may be applied to building components pre- or post-installation, and provide a flexible and adherent coating. When exposed to heat, the coating expands to form an insulative yet cohesive layer which protects the component from fire-induced damage.

Blast Resistant Prefabricated Wall Units

US Patent:
7406806, Aug 5, 2008
Filed:
Dec 17, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/738486
Inventors:
Gerald Hallissy - Port Washington NY, US
William G. Higbie - Bay Shore NY, US
Edward R. Fyfe - Delmar CA, US
International Classification:
E04C 2/34
US Classification:
524811, 52408, 523097, 52317
Abstract:
Blast resistant prefabricated wall panels contain at least one panel consisting of two structural boards having a thermoset resin-impregnated fiber reinforcing layer therebetween and extending from sides of the panel, the extension wrapped at least partially around metal sole and top plates of a metal sole plate, top plate, and stud construction. The panels are capable of resisting explosive blasts without forming secondary projectiles, and are preferably attached to a building structure by energy absorbing deformable brackets.

Armor Shielding

US Patent:
7926407, Apr 19, 2011
Filed:
Nov 16, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/941616
Inventors:
Gerald Hallissy - Port Washington NY, US
William G. Higbie - Bayshore NY, US
International Classification:
F41H 5/04
US Classification:
89 3602, 89910, 89930, 109 495, 109 80, 109 83
Abstract:
A shield for shielding structures, vehicles and personnel from a projectile and/or an explosive blast generally includes a substantially planar shield plate adapted for attachment to a structure to provide protection to the structure. The shield plate includes a chassis having an interior surface facing the structure and an opposite outer surface, and a ballistic liner disposed on the outer surface of the chassis such that the chassis is more proximal the structure than the ballistic liner. The ballistic liner has an exterior surface facing the exterior environment.
