Loading Ramp Apparatus

US Patent:
6854147, Feb 15, 2005
Filed:
Apr 5, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/117966
Inventors:
George E. Ahlsten - Wheaton MN, US
International Classification:
B64C001/22, B64D009/00, B60P001/02
US Classification:
14 695, 414495, 414522, 414398, 296 20
Abstract:
A loading ramp having an elongated frame with guideways along its length on opposite side thereof. A moving panel having rollers at its front and rear adapted to roll along die guideways of the ramp to roll the panel along the length of the elongated frame. A table mounted at one end to the moving panel and support means to support the table at its other end out away from the panel. A loading bracket for mounting in the doorway of an aircraft and adapted to receive the upper end of the elongated frame to provide a ramp from the ground to the doorway of the aircraft. A power mechanism for powering the panel and connecting table upward and downward along the frame from adjacent the ground to the doorway of the aircraft. The supporting members of the table acting to support the outer end of the table approximately away from the ramp and approximately horizontal as the power mechanism powers the table and panel upward and downward on the ramp to enable a stretcher to be placed on the table and raised from the ground into the doorway of the aircraft while approximately horizontal to the ground.

Medical Transport Apparatus

US Patent:
5535964, Jul 16, 1996
Filed:
Jan 12, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/180682
Inventors:
George E. Ahlsten - Wheaton MN
Assignee:
Spectrum Aeromed, Inc. - Wheaton MN
International Classification:
B64D 900
US Classification:
2441185
Abstract:
The invention comprises a bench and loading lift for supporting a stretcher on an aircraft and for loading the stretcher onto the bench, while the bench is on the aircraft. The bench has a top surface for supporting a stretcher thereon with a slidably adjustable oxygen and vacuum outlet to provide oxygen and a vacuum at a selected locations along the bench by sliding the adjustable oxygen and vacuum outlets along the bench. The bench has sleeve structure at adjustable locations along the bench for receiving the mounting pin at the forward end of a ramp or lift for supporting the forward end of the ramp at an adjustable location on the bench while the bench is in an aircraft. The lift has vertically adjustable rear leg structure adapted to engage the ground outside the aircraft and adjustable to enable the lift to be adjusted to a suitable height for receiving a stretcher, with a patient thereon, on the ground and sliding the stretcher along the lift onto the bench inside the aircraft.

Stretcher Device

US Patent:
5481770, Jan 9, 1996
Filed:
Sep 30, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/129684
Inventors:
George E. Ahlsten - Wheaton MN
International Classification:
A61G 100
US Classification:
5625
Abstract:
The invention comprises a stretcher. The stretcher has an elongated rectangular frame and a U shaped frame with the ends of its legs pivotally mounted to the inside of the rectangular frame to pivot from a flush position inside and parallel with the rectangular frame to an upward angular position in relation to the rectangular frame to serve as a back rest for a patient upon the stretcher. A fluid actuated piston and cylinder are pivotally connected between the rectangular frame and the pivotable U frame to pivot the U frame to an upward angle relative to the rectangular frame. Slidable panels are slidably mounted on the U frame and rectangular frame to slide laterally away from the frame to provide an adjustable arm rest for a patient upon the stretcher.
