Network-Connected Personal Medical Information And Billing System

US Patent:
2004025, Dec 16, 2004
Filed:
Apr 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/836429
Inventors:
Gene Myers - Sarasota FL, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/002000

Method And Apparatus For Contemporaneous Billing And Documenting With Rendered Services

US Patent:
2003008, May 1, 2003
Filed:
Oct 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/037462
Inventors:
Gene Myers - Sarasota FL, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/002000
Abstract:
A system for generating a billing report for rendered services includes local and remote processing devices. The local processing device is located locally with respect to a location at which the services are rendered and the remote-processing device is located remotely with respect to such location. The local and remote processing devices execute respective software programs and communicate in a particular manner over a wide area computer network (e.g., the Internet) such that a service provider using the local processing device can access the remote processing device and enter parameters related to the services (e.g., service codes) for use in generating the billing report. Entry of the parameters preferably occurs substantially during the time period when the services are being rendered and the parameters are preferably acceptable to a third party that is at least partially responsible for payment for the services. The remote-processing device preferably verifies compliance of the entered parameters with reporting requirements of the third party and, if the entered parameters comply, generates the billing report based on the entered parameters.

Energy Activated Fibrin Plug

US Patent:
5941897, Aug 24, 1999
Filed:
May 9, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/853725
Inventors:
Gene E. Myers - Sarasota FL
International Classification:
A61B 1700
US Classification:
606213
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for controlled sealant closure, visualization and evaluation of an anterior arteriotomy site in a patient by means of a fiberoptic system in combination with a radiant energy sensitive synthetic human or non-human base sealant. The sealant material undergoes a reaction in which the property of the sealant is converted from liquid to solid or semi-solid, with the reaction being triggered or energized by exposure to radiant energy.

5486195, Jan 23, 1996
Filed:
Jul 26, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/097401
Inventors:
Gene Myers - Sarasota FL
William S. Coury - Sarasota FL
International Classification:
A61B 1704
US Classification:
606213
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for quickly and effectively sealing an arteriotomy site in a patient. In particular, the invention provides an apparatus and a method for sealing an arteriotomy site which can be performed by a single operator. The arteriotomy can be sealed by delivery of a patient specific autologous fibrin glue to a debrided, synthesized area adjacent to the extravascular opening of the arteriotomy.

Method And Apparatus For Arteriotomy Closure

US Patent:
5725551, Mar 10, 1998
Filed:
Apr 27, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/429817
Inventors:
Gene Myers - Sarasota FL
William S. Coury - Sarasota FL
International Classification:
A61B 1700
US Classification:
606213
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for quickly and effectively sealing an arteriotomy site in a patient. In particular, the invention provides an apparatus and a method for sealing an arteriotomy site which can be performed by a single operator. The arteriotomy can be sealed by delivery of a suitable sealant such as a patient specific autologous fibrin glue to a debrided, synthesized area adjacent to the extravascular opening of the arteriotomy. Alternatively, synthetically produced fibrin glue or other sealants can be utilized in a method of sealing an arteriotomy site.

International Classification:
A61B 17/06
US Classification:
606222000
Abstract:
The present invention provides a surgical needle apparatus having a piercing tip at a distal portion of a needle member. A first edge obliquely extends from the piercing tip to a heel portion of the needle member to define a partial boundary of a bore in fluid communication with a lumen of the needle member. A pair of cutting edges extend longitudinally from the first edge and extend radially outwardly above on outer surface of the needle member. The surgical needle apparatus is configured to create a body structure access site and an adjacent homologous pedicle for post-procedure sealing of the access site.

Apparatus For Arterial Total Occlusion Plaque Separation

US Patent:
5304199, Apr 19, 1994
Filed:
Jan 4, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/000822
Inventors:
Gene E. Myers - Sarasota FL
Assignee:
Gene E. Myers Enterprises, Inc. - Sarasota FL
International Classification:
A61M 2902
US Classification:
606194
Abstract:
A method for surgically enlarging an arterial lumen totally occluded by a stenotic lesion, and a unique balloon catheter used during that operation. The balloon catheter is generally rod shaped and includes an elongated tubular member having a double central lumen with a proximal end and a distal end and a balloon portion having a concave distal tip smaller in diameter than the proximal tip. The method takes advantage of the catheter design and includes positioning of the catheter in close proximity to a total occlusion and inflating the balloon to form a plaque cleft.
