Exercise Device

US Patent:
6679813, Jan 20, 2004
Filed:
May 24, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/577914
Inventors:
Gary W. Gray - Adrian MI
Assignee:
True Fitness Technology, Inc. - OFallon MO
International Classification:
A63B 6918
US Classification:
482 71, 482 51
Abstract:
The exercise device of the present invention has a base having two side members and front member that extends between the side members. At least one truss member extends from the base. A rotatable shaft is positioned on the truss member and a flywheel is mounted on the shaft. A rotatable drive shaft is mounted on the truss member and a first one-way clutch and a second one-way clutch are mounted on the drive shaft. A means is provided for operatively connecting the drive shaft to the rotatable shaft whereby rotation of the drive shaft causes the rotatable shaft to rotate. A pair of arms have a first end that is pivotally mounted on the base and a second end that extends from the base. A foot pad is positioned on the second end of each of the arms. The foot pads are disposed to move in an arcuate path towards and away from the side members of the base and the movement of the foot pads is in a direction that is substantially parallel to the front member of the base. A lever is operatively connected to each arm whereby movement of the arms causes a movement of the levers.

US Patent:
6228005, May 8, 2001
Filed:
Aug 24, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/382140
Inventors:
Gary W. Gray - Adrian MI
International Classification:
A63B 2302
US Classification:
482907
Abstract:
A multiple station exercise and stretching apparatus is described. A first exercise station includes a plurality of spaced apart horizontal bars. A second exercise station includes a foot support and at least one horizontally extending grasping bar. A third exercise station includes at least one foot stirrup and at least one horizontally extending bar which is in a spaced apart relationship to the foot support. A fourth exercise station has an upper grasping member having bars which angle in a rearward and downward direction and at least one lower grasping device which is positioned at an angle to the upper grasping device. A fifth exercise station includes a plurality of vertically extending bars. A sixth exercise station includes a plurality of angled overhead bars. Each station preferably includes a support platform having a first angled mat which angles upwardly from a midline and a second angled mat which angles upwardly in an opposite direction from the first angled mat.

Back-Spine-Neurological Therapy Apparatus

US Patent:
5810751, Sep 22, 1998
Filed:
Aug 14, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/514843
Inventors:
Robert H. Meier - Ann Arbor MI
Gary W. Gray - Adrian MI
Assignee:
Spectrum Therapy Products, Inc. - Jasper MI
International Classification:
A61H 100
US Classification:
601 24
Abstract:
Therapy apparatus for the exercise of the patient's trunk, back, spine, abdomen and shoulders consisting of a platform having a periphery and upper and lower sides. A pedestal or column extending vertically above the platform upper side supports a seat receiving the patient, and the platform lower side includes a central supporting projection extending below the platform periphery wherein the platform will engage a flat supporting surface, such as the floor, at the support projection and the platform periphery in a tilted manner and a patient located upon the seat may shift their weight to change the angle of platform tilting for exercising the patient's trunk, back, spine, shoulders and torso muscles and ligaments. Support projections of various vertical dimension may be employed to vary the extent of tilting from the vertical, and the apparatus may be utilized with computerized equipment to obtain accurate determination of the extent of exercise and body flexibility.

Biomechanical Exercise Device Having A Resilient Support Surface

US Patent:
8092356, Jan 10, 2012
Filed:
Nov 19, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/621980
Inventors:
David A. Seel - Jasper MI, US
Jerry E. Seel - Ponte Vedra FL, US
Gary W. Gray - Adrian MI, US
International Classification:
A63B 21/00
US Classification:
482146, 482 79
Abstract:
An ankle exercise device increases user comfort and is capable of exercising each ankle without having to switch a fulcrum from one side to the other. The exercise device includes an upper section having a first stiffness characteristic and a lower section that is connected to upper section and has a second stiffness characteristic that is different than the first stiffness characteristic. A fulcrum extends from the lower section and is adapted to support the exercise device for pivoting movement relative to a floor or other support surface.

Biomechanical Ankle Platform

US Patent:
4653748, Mar 31, 1987
Filed:
Sep 17, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/651653
Inventors:
Jerry E. Seel - Adrian MI
Gary W. Gray - Adrian MI
International Classification:
A63B 2304
US Classification:
272 96
Abstract:
An ankle exercising device comprising a substantially flat platform and a hemispherical member secured to the bottom surface of the flat platform at its diametric planar surface. The peripheral contour of the platform is preferably configured with respect to the center of the hemispherical member so that the maximum tilt angle of the platform at any peripheral point coincides with the average or normal degree of movement of the biomechanical ankle structure in that direction. At least the top surface of the platform includes indicia so that the foot can be placed in a proper position on the platform, whereby angular movement of the ankle on the device corresponds with the average maximum biomechanical function of the ankle structure.
