General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
A61B 5/05, G06K 9/00
US Classification:
600413, 382128, 378 62
Abstract:
Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for image registration and display of relevant information. The method includes identifying one or more anatomical parts in an acquired image, mapping the acquired image to a reference image based on the one or more anatomical parts, storing anatomy information in relation to the acquired image, and displaying the acquired image based on the anatomy information. The method may also include controlling the displaying of the acquired image based on a voice command related to the anatomy information. Anatomy information may be displayed with the acquired image. Anatomy information may include clinical information, reference information, disease process information, a related image, and/or drug interaction information, for example. The acquired image may be displayed according to a display setting, such as a window level setting and/or other display setting, based on the anatomy information.

Positive Contrast Mri Using Positive And Negative Field Inhomogeneity

US Patent:
2007025, Nov 1, 2007
Filed:
May 1, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/381043
Inventors:
Scott Reeder - Middleton WI, US
Garry Gold - Stanford CA, US
International Classification:
A61B 5/05
US Classification:
600420000
Abstract:
The acquisition of multiple images at slightly different time shifts from the spin echo (or from TE=0 for gradient echo sequences), allows the separation of on-resonance spins from off-resonance spins by encoding this information in the received signal. The excitation pulse can be a standard broadband excitation that will excite all spins. The separation of on- and off-resonance spins is then performed on the received signal. The polar and equatorial lobes of a magnetic particle such as SPIO produce signals from excited water molecules near the particle which are frequency offset above and below the frequency of signals from water molecules unaffected by the particle.

Automatic Segmentation Of Articular Cartilage From Mri

US Patent:
2009030, Dec 10, 2009
Filed:
Jun 4, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/133293
Inventors:
Seungbum Koo - Palo Alto CA, US
Brian A. Hargreaves - Menlo Park CA, US
Garry E. Gold - Stanford CA, US
Assignee:
The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University - Palo Alto CA
International Classification:
A61B 5/05
US Classification:
600417, 600410, 600416
Abstract:
A method for musculoskeletal tissue segmentation used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is provided. MRI image data is collected using at least two different contrast mechanisms. Voxel values from data from each contrast mechanism are used as elements of a feature vector. The feature vector is compared with classification boundaries to classify musculoskeletal tissue type of the voxel. The previous two steps are repeated for a plurality of voxels. An image is generated from the classified musculoskeletal tissue types for the plurality of voxels to provide a musculoskeletal segmentation image.

Distortion-Free Magnetic Resonance Imaging Near Metallic Implants

US Patent:
7928729, Apr 19, 2011
Filed:
Aug 7, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/188031
Inventors:
Brian A. Hargreaves - Menlo Park CA, US
Wenmiao Lu - Palo Alto CA, US
John M. Pauly - Stanford CA, US
Garry E. Gold - Stanford CA, US
Kim B. Pauly - Stanford CA, US
Assignee:
The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University - Palo Alto CA
International Classification:
G01V 3/00
US Classification:
324309, 324307
Abstract:
A method for 3D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with slice-direction distortion correction is provided. One or more selective cross-sections with a thickness along a first axis is excited using a RF pulse with a bandwidth, wherein a selective cross-section is either a selective slice or selective slab. A refocusing pulse is applied to form a spin echo. One or more 2D encoded image signals are acquired with readout along a second axis and phase encoding along a third axis. Slice-direction distortion is corrected by resolving the position by resolving the frequency offset.
