Limited Torque Conveyor Construction

US Patent:
3961700, Jun 8, 1976
Filed:
Aug 9, 1973
Appl. No.:
5/387152
Inventors:
Fred J. Fleischauer - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
B65G 1308, B65G 13073
US Classification:
198127R
Abstract:
I disclose a conveyor construction comprising a support, a plurality of conveyor rollers rotatably mounted on said support and defining a pass line for articles conveyed by said conveyor construction, a drive member for each of selected ones of said rollers, a common drive shaft rotatably mounted adjacent said drive members, a magnetic coupling connecting each of said drive members with one of said drive shaft and the associated roller, and a flexible drive belt coupling each of said drive members to the other of said drive shaft and said associated roller.

Torque-Transmitting Drive

US Patent:
4372442, Feb 8, 1983
Filed:
Sep 10, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/073901
Inventors:
Fred J. Fleischauer - Pittsburgh PA
Assignee:
Ermanco Incorporated - Spring Lake MI
International Classification:
B65G 1307
US Classification:
198790
Abstract:
A torque-transmitting drive having a driving member and a driven member spaced therefrom with an endless transmission belt engaging the members to transmit torque from the driving member to the driven member. The endless belt is folded over one of these members such that two strands of this belt pass over the one member and this same one member thereby does not pass through the endless belt. A bearing sleeve is further slippingly mounted on this one member, over which the endless belt folds such that one strand of the belt at the fold passes over the bearing sleeve. Thus, one strand at the belt fold is in driving engagement with the member and the other strand of the endless belt moves in the opposite direction such that the bearing sleeve is rotating in a direction opposite to that of the member over which the belt folds. When replacing belts, it is not necessary to disturb or dismantle the member over which the endless belt folds, as that member does not pass through the belt.

Controlled Slippage, Limited Torque Transmission

US Patent:
4198833, Apr 22, 1980
Filed:
Jun 28, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/700299
Inventors:
Fred J. Fleischauer - Pittsburgh PA
Theodore L. McCart - Bolton, CA
Assignee:
General Logistics Corporation - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
F16D 702, F16H 5548, B65G 1302
US Classification:
64 30R
Abstract:
A controlled slippage, limited-torque transmission comprises a driving member, a driven member spaced therefrom, and a transmission belt wrapped about the members to transmit torque from the driving member to the driven member. An annular split slippage member is slippingly mounted on one of the driving and driven members and is disposed between that one member and a belt wrap thereabout. The slippage member substantially encircles that one member and is capable of ready assembly and disassembly with respect thereto.
