Abstract:
The present invention may be embodied as a method or a system for generating an order for a dental restoration of an individual. An automated tooth selection apparatus is disclosed, comprising an image capture device and a processor. The automated tooth selection apparatus is configured to capture range data for each captured image, wherein the range data corresponds to the distance between the image capture device and the individual. An image is captured of a facial feature of the individual using the image capture device. The processor is used to determine the size of the facial feature of the individual. A tooth for the dental restoration of the individual is selected from a database of available teeth based on the determined size of the facial feature. An order for a dental restoration is generated including the selected tooth.

Abstract:
Sets of posterior teeth which may be used for the production of dentures; the sets including a first set of posterior teeth which provide for lingualized occlusion, and a second set of posterior teeth which provide zero degree monoplane occlusion surfaces. The second set includes maxillary and mandibular premolars and molars, all of the teeth having flat lingual and buccal cusps and a central mesial-distal fossa between the cusps, the central mesial-distal fossa of the mandibular teeth being designed to accommodate the lingual cusps of the maxillary teeth of the first set. The second set has been designed with full length premolars which are of sufficient length to harmonize with canines, the premolars being provided facial surfaces having a cusp like effect by having marginal ridges slightly lower than the center of the buccal and lingual cusps.

A kit which may be used for anterior tooth selection, the kit including a facial meter for measuring the width of a nose and/or the distance between the eyes, and for correlating the measurement to a tooth size, and an anterior tooth selection guide consisting of a plurality of cards which have various sets of upper anterior teeth of differing sizes, soft and bold, depicted thereon so that a dentist or dental professional may place a card adjacent the face of the patient to make an initial evaluation of the teeth to be selected based upon the use of the anterior tooth selection guide. The kit may also includes a mold guide which includes various sets of anterior teeth and posterior teeth. This kit facilitates the tooth selection process by the dental professional.
