Philosophy:
Originally from Argentina, I obtained my degree (title of Psychology) from National University of Rosario. Following my relocation to Washington D.C., I received a certification of Bachelor and Masters in Psychology from the leading World Education Services (WES), and continued expanding my practice in the area of northern Virginia. My work experience includes treatment of various groups and population in diverse work settings, including work with U.S. government official programs, non-profit organizations, clinics, coalitions, and many more.
I am an active Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a private practice in the District of Columbia. I work with adolescents and adults, and I specialize in working with individual and couples addressing issues such as trauma, depression, addictions, family conflicts, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, parenting, sexual abuse, divorce, and work related issues, among others.
My approach to work is psychodynamic, and more specifically, psychoanalytic. Psychoanalysis is a discipline that includes both an interpretation of human subjectivity and its behaviors as a therapeutic method for treating the psychic suffering of the human subject. My practice is based, precisely, on the belief of the unconscious and its interpretation.
Frequently, I also use psychotherapy techniques such as Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT). These methods are used as alternatives and/or complementary tools in learning how to manage emotions, and address issues such phobias, anxiety, compulsions, traumas, stress reduction, etc.
