Anatomical Dental Implant With Expandable Root

US Patent:
5470230, Nov 28, 1995
Filed:
Sep 30, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/315603
Inventors:
Fereidoun Daftary - Beverly Hills CA
Oded Bahat - Beverly Hills CA
International Classification:
A61C 800
US Classification:
433174
Abstract:
A dental implant assembly for supporting a dental component on a patient's jawbone. The dental implant assembly is fitted into a hole drilled in the jawbone. The dental implant assembly comprises an implant member having a hollow bottom sleeve split into multiple segments, a fixed shaft located inside the split bottom sleeve, and an expander member movably mounted on the fixed shaft and having a ramped surface engaging with the at least two split segments. The expander member is engaged with the bottom of the jawbone hole, and caused to move on the shaft as the implant member is installed into the jawbone hole, to thereby force the split segments to expand outwardly against and tightly engage with the interior sidewall of the jawbone hole. Therefore, the dental implant assembly can be securely installed into the patient's jawbone in a single step without any additional and separate step to operate the expander.

Interlockable Two-Piece Impression Coping For Anatomical Dental Abutment Restorative Systems

US Patent:
5213502, May 25, 1993
Filed:
Jun 10, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/896613
Inventors:
Fereidoun Daftary - Beverly Hills CA
International Classification:
A61C 1312, A61C 13225, A61C 800
US Classification:
433172
Abstract:
The present invention is an interlockable two-piece impression coping for anatomical dental abutment restorative systems. It includes a bolt member and a coping member having complementary intercoupling members respectively, which are disengaged when the coping member is fully fastened to the dental component by the bolt member. The present invention is also a method of attaching an impression coping to a dental component of an anatomical dental abutment restorative system for making an impression. The essential steps of the present invention method include first intercoupling the bolt member and the coping member, and then attaching the coping member to the dental component and fastening the coping member to the dental component by the bolt member, while having their complementary intercoupling members disengaged.

Anatomical Restoration Dental Implant System For Posterior And Anterior Teeth

US Patent:
5759034, Jun 2, 1998
Filed:
Nov 29, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/758400
Inventors:
Fereidoun Daftary - Beverly Hills CA
International Classification:
A61C 800
US Classification:
433173
Abstract:
An anatomical restoration dental implant system for posterior and anterior teeth comprising an anatomic implant fixture which is press-fitted within the tapered alveolus of a patient's jawbone, a matching abutment member seated above the anatomic implant fixture and a bolt member for securing the abutment member to the anatomic implant fixture. The implant fixture has a head section with a bevel periphery top surface and a tapered shaft section with a bottom end. The matching abutment member has a bottom end which has a complementary interior bevel periphery surface, where the abutment member is installed over the top end of the implant fixture such that the complementary interior bevel periphery surface of the abutment member matches the bevel periphery surface of the top end of the implant fixture, thereby providing a perfect match therebetween.

Anatomical Restoration Dental Implant System With Interlockable Various Shaped Healing Cap Assembly And Matching Abutment Member

US Patent:
5547377, Aug 20, 1996
Filed:
Dec 16, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/358784
Inventors:
Fereidoun Daftary - Beverly Hills CA
International Classification:
A61C 1312, A61C 13225, A61C 800
US Classification:
433172
Abstract:
The present invention is an anatomical restoration dental implant system with an interlockable various shaped healing cap assembly and a matching abutment member. The healing cap assembly includes an integral bolt member which has a widened head segment and an elongated shaft segment. The healing cap assembly also includes a healing cap member which has a divergent body with a larger rounded triangle shaped end. The healing cap member also has a stepped interior bore with threaded section offset from that of the bolt member so that the healing cap member and the bolt member are interlockable. The present invention also comprises a matching abutment member for supporting a tooth analogue with a rounded triangle shaped root. The abutment member has a bolt segment which is identical to the bolt member of the healing cap assembly, and a frusto-conical shaped head segment. The large end of the frusto-conical shaped head segment of the abutment member is circular shaped and smaller than the rounded triangle shaped end of the healing cap member, such that when the abutment member is attached to the healing cap member, a rounded triangle shaped shoulder is created for matching perfectly with the rounded triangle shaped root of the tooth analogue.

Anatomical Restoration Dental Implant System With Reinforced Healing Cap And Abutment

US Patent:
5145372, Sep 8, 1992
Filed:
Oct 24, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/782091
Inventors:
Fereidoun Daftary - Beverly Hills CA
Jack D. Preston - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
A61C 800
US Classification:
433173
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for implanting tooth analogues in the jawbone resulting in aesthetically and functionally desirable gingival tissue contours after restoration. The system permits modification and adaptation of the tooth analogue to meet intraoral demands in a manner similar to that used in the preparation and restoration of natural teeth. The system comprises a standard fixture and cover screw passed through opened gingival tissue and implanted in the jawbone. After the osseointegration of the fixture, the gingiva is reopened and the cover screw is removed, and a healing cap having a predetermined contour is attached to the fixture. The reopened gingiva re-heals in a shape determined by the contour of the healing cap. The healing cap may have two separable reinforced portions so that one lower portion around which gingiva tissue regrows may remain in the patient while only the other upper portion is removed and replaced by a reinforced abutment having an emergence profile matching that of the reinforced healing cap. An immediate snug fit between the gingival tissues and the reinforced abutment is thereby provided at the time of connection of the reinforced abutment to the fixture, and a crown can be removably attached to the reinforced abutment by a screw extending through the side of the crown into the reinforced abutment.
