Philosophy:
My goal as a neurosurgeon is always to provide treatment that is competent, caring, and comprehensive. The approach to each patient is individualized, avoiding 'assembly line' medicine. Patients are carefully examined, films thoroughly reviewed, and the necessary time taken to understand the patient as a person, not only as a condition. In many cases, a conservative (non-surgical) approach is recommended, and is often successful. It is critical that the patient be involved in their health care decisions and also actively involved in their own treatment. The physician and patient must work as a team. If surgery becomes necessary, the safest, most effective, but least invasive approach is utilized. My aim is for patients to return to an active, comfortable, productive lifestyle.
