Abstract:

A bag for displaying and protecting a corsage of fresh flowers or the like in handling and transporting the same, the bag being formed from a printed blank of flexible transparent plastic film by suitable manipulation and having a printed field serving as background for the corsage or flower. The blank is printed in such a manner that when the bag is formed, the printed field will be visible through the thickness of the rear wall and through the front wall which is transparent, there is a clear space for enabling the overlapped edges of the blank to be welded outside of the presence of the printed background to form a tube, and the bottom and top ends of the resulting tube being also clear to enable welding of the bottom end beyond the presence of the printed field. The top end of the resulting bag also has a clear space where the bag will be closed by the florist. The blank for each bag is cut from an elongate strip that is printed with rectangles of suitable dimension and spacing to produce the desired results when the bag blanks are severed and formed into bags.

Abstract:

A flexible sleeve for containing a pot and/or floral grouping and/or growing or retaining medium. The flexible sleeve has a body and a flap. The body has an outer peripheral surface, an inner peripheral surface and a skirt. The flap is connected to the inner peripheral surface of the body, preferably near the skirt. The flap is adapted to be positioned in: a storage position extending downward, a receiving position extending upward, and a deployed position extending substantially inwardly from the inner peripheral surface of the body when the body is in an open configuration. The flap can be a sheet, or may be folded or slitted. Water or other chemicals may be impregnated into the flap to aid in the maintenance of the floral grouping or growing medium. The flap may also be used to secure the sleeve about the pot and/or floral grouping and/or growing or retaining medium.

Abstract:

The incorporation of organic and FD&C pigments that meet FDA specifications for food packaging materials into resinous articles is accomplished by dispersing the pigments into a non-toxic mineral or vegetable oil formulation which contains glycerol monooleate and zinc stearate, the formulation then being added to the resin and mixed. Resinous articles colored in this manner can be utilized safely as direct food contact packaging, for example, decorative grass, which enables candies to be placed directly on the grass without incurring the expense of overwrapping the candies with a resin film which meets FDA and USDA requirements and which eliminates the hazard involved when candies are inadvertently or unknowningly placed on the decorative grass. The resinous materials which may be colored by the organic and FD&C pigments include polyolefin resins.

A cover forming apparatus for forming a sheet of material about an object to produce a decorative cover for the object. The cover forming apparatus includes a cover former having an object opening formed through a portion thereof which is adapted to receive the object.
